𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭 5/5: Justin 🕺🐎

Justin’s mom and dad got married in Stanford Church, Justin was born in Stanford Hospital, he used to play in the garden of Stanford Oval (3rd photo), then he went to Stanford Online High school, so this shoot was more like recreating some of his childhood memories. Walking the campus with him and his Mom was a ride to their nostalgic den in each corner of the campus and noticing things differently, for example, I always thought it is just a garden in the Oval, never noticed it was actually S written with those roses and I somehow managed to capture it in my camera as well even wo a drone.

This was an extended shoot with prom and grad combo. Since it was my 6th time shooting in the campus, I wanted to create different sets than before. So, I was trying out new angles and corners of the campus mostly with few old shots. I am that kind of photographer who gets bored easily to take same shots. So I need to experiment. And sometimes the outcome is good, sometimes just okish. It’s all part of the learning process keeping the spark of creating new. And he was very patient with this process and my each shots. Having her mother was cherry on top. Whenever I shared some of my ideas she kinda helped Justin to hone those poses fixing the details. Then I said her you are so good, I need someone like you to assist me when shooting a boy. She said just ask the boy to come with his mom, rest will be taken care of.

With this I am ending this prom shoot posts. I have one last grad post to share from UCDavis. Have not finished editing it yet. Hopefully soon..till then stay tuned…

I wish I got more time to shoot Stefhen. He was so good in posing like a model! I have never got to shoot any guy who was that good in posing, just in one spot he can change many poses, and all are good! That was absolutely amazing to watch. They had to run for their prom dance so I could not get to shoot him in many frames.

After finishing Stanford High School, this cool gentlemen is going to UCBerkeley to study Physics but before that he is experimenting Newton’s Laws of Motions (photo 4) in his prom night!

I said you can be next 007 agent, and after seeing some shots he said I kinda agree with you! 😅

Stupid me did not ask Paige if there will be any boys in her 4 friends’ group, for some reason I assumed everyone is going to be girls!! 🤦‍♀️ Usually I go over prepared for my each shoot, but do not know how I missed this crucial detail. So when I saw 3 of her friends are boys, I was like now I need to think of some poses for boys. Paige herself and my next model (Stefhen) were so good that they helped me with some instant poses and not to screw up the shoot too bad.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭 2/5: Maryam ♠️🥀

The clock tower and Stanford’s Romanesque Quad just turned into St Mark's Campanile of Venice with the charm of this girl’s black dress, rose, curls, and mask. Love those detailed shots of her. She requested me to focus her jewelries, since those were heirlooms. During the shoot, I was showing her some of the photos, and seeing them she mentioned “oh gosh you are so good at your art, you know the symmetry, putting me exactly in the middle (first photo) and what you are doing!” - Such a great compliment!

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭 1/5: Paige 💙💃🏻🎭

I already have posted about Paige’s graduation. It feels good to see some return client. This time the occasion was her prom night. So she not only considered Afrin Framin to take her prom shots but also recommended 4 of her friends to shoot with me. It was nice seeing 5 of them all dressed up, so I have 5 posts from this shoot. Stay tuned for the rest.

After Bridgerton, I binge watched Outlander. I just finished the season finale that week before the shoot. And when I saw her in this beautiful blue gown, it felt like I was living the show in real life, some character from the show time traveled from 1700 century! We had the Princess, Castle, may be needed a carriage to get her to her Prom Masquerade!

👨‍🎓𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧🎓

My tiniest grad model! I was nervous before the shoot thinking I may not be able to make him pose. But to my surprise he was so fun and easygoing with me and nailed every poses I asked for like a little game. And my heart melted seeing him and shooting this little grad!

I asked him to do the following:

📈Jumping
🏃🏻 Running
🌾Laying down
🎬Holding the board
🧢Holding the cap
🕊️Being a bird
🫶🏻Showing heart sign
😘Kissing Mamma

Also asked if he has any idea, he then made W (win) sign instead of V (victory), then also asked if he can wear the cap in angle!

After covering Kindergarten, to Bachelor, to Master’s graduation photoshoots now this photographer really wish to shoot a doctoral grad. If anyone in the Bay Area or even Sacramento area graduating with a PhD degree, feel free to reach out. Would love to shoot.

🎓𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!👩‍🎓

Sharing an old work of my friend’s Master’s Graduation from 2023. I used to live in Sac back then and came to the Bay to attend her graduation ceremony at San Jose State University. I also did multiple shoots that weekend with the grad and her fam. Since I was a guest in her ceremony I too got all dressed up for the event and have a photo of mine with her at the very end.

Till date I have been shooting so many grad shoots since 2012 before starting it professionally until this year. I myself planned my own Master’s and Doctoral shoots, did multiple friends’ Master’s and Doctoral shoots, attended their ceremonies, watched them walked the stage, hooded! So to me I know the emotion a grad can hold to his or her campus. It’s not a campus, it’s an emotion to them. So the graduation day is a joyous wrap of their hard-work, achievement, a new degree, and a start of a new beginning with hope for a better life. And the grad celebrates the day all dressed up with gown and cap in his or her everyday campus pretending like a tourist for the one last time where he and she needs to take the best photos with all the monuments and the artwork to look back for the years to come. And I always enjoy those hustle and bustle to walk the whole campus with a new grad to take photos while he or she is saying goodbye to the campus and their piece of life they spent there. To all the grad 🥂🍾

Seeing Ayesha in this beautiful white dress in cloudy
Berkeley campus, its tall white Campanile - all were giving me a princess vibe! With my camera I for sure have portrayed lots of princess stories probably with flowers or other natures but never one where the princess was graduating!

👩‍🎓𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧🎓

With a full time job, I don’t have the luxury to shoot a lot, so I try to keep my freelance work limited not to burn myself out and at the same time to maintain the quality of my work. But, but no matter how busy I am, as a photographer doing a grad shoot at Stanford university campus was in my bucket list. It was a Saturday, I just got back from a very long trip to middle east and Asia, was still a bit jetlagged, so had no plan but to chill that weekend and suddenly I got a text from someone random asking if I was available for a shoot the next day in Stanford Campus. Obviously the ans is yes. But I was also cautious about not being scammed since it was very first time someone out of my network asking for a shoot. Next few mins I researched how authentic the account is who inboxed me on FB and realized it is a public place so I should be ok to say yes. After saying yes, I realized they were more concerned than I was about me showing up and doing the shoot since it was very last minute. After seeing their concern I felt it was a serious query. It was the mother of this graduating senior who found me and inboxed me in this very account. So after meeting the family in person, I was very curious and asked them how did she manage to find me since I had not much posts back then in Feb. She said I might have less posts in my account but she liked the fact how colorful my photos looked and texted me. They are a family living in Florida and were visiting from Florida for an early senior shoot and they only had that Sunday for the shoot before their flight back to Florida. So, they were really happy to find me in that short time and do that shoot.

That is the background story of getting hired for this shoot. Now let’s talk about my beautiful model who is graduating in 2026. Even I had only one night to plan this shoot, since I have visited Stanford Campus before, and had planned my own doctoral shoot and some friends’ graduation shoot in different campuses not so long ago, I had no issue crafting her senior shots tailoring to Stanford campus in that one night. So I went very prepared and whatever I asked her to do she was not just able to do all of the poses, but also she overdid herself. She also had her own ideas and shots planned. So in each location we kinda did both: mine and her. After a while I had to ask her how did you manage to jump on to those giant balls infront of the Engineering building!!! She said she was in a promo video for the Disney app!! Then it all made sense, no wonder how flawless she was with standing on one heel while throwing cap, posing, jumping, climbing to those giant balls and what not. I must say I am so lucky to get talented models in my each shoot.

Here is to the class of 2026! 🥂🎉

Have also done one San Jose State grad shoot. I am extremely happy to be able to shoot in some of the beautiful campuses right after moving to California in this short time. Now a shoot in UCBerkeley, UCMerced, and Santa Clara University are in my bucket list. So if someone is graduating from those schools do let me know, I will be happy to do your grad shots there. Other schools are also welcome! Not forgetting Sac State and UCDavis as well. If I like the work, would be happy to travel as well.
