Laura and I go all the way back to high school ( for us SHAlums), so when she reached out about maternity and newborn photos, I was genuinely excited.

Before her session, we caught up and put together a mood board. Almost immediately, we landed on something moodier than my usual style. I’d been eyeing this backdrop for months (well, years perhaps), just waiting for the right session to bring it into the studio. Laura’s vision was exactly the nudge I needed.

Looking through these, I kept thinking, “THIS is why I love maternity sessions.” In just a few weeks, everything will change. These are some of the last photographs of just the two of them before they become three.

One day, their daughter will see these and realize she was loved long before she ever arrived.

Laura, thank you for trusting me with this season of your life and for inspiring me to finally bring this backdrop into the studio. I can’t wait to meet your sweet little girl in a month.

It was so much fun creating these maternity portraits here in my Connecticut studio, located the heart of the historic neighborhood of Unionville in Farmington.

You’re going to want to swipe because I have a feeling we’ve all felt this way about NOT booking a newborn photoshoot.

This season moves faster than anyone warns you about. We hear this all the time and don’t feel the swiftness until they’re older, their rolls have disappeared, and they’ve become smaller versions of ourselves. The tiny sounds, the newborn stretches, the exact weight of them in your arms, all of it changes within weeks. Booking a newborn session isn’t about getting a nice picture, it’s about giving your future self something solid to hold onto once the memory starts to blur.

Newborn sessions only work within the first couple weeks of life. That’s a REAL window, not just a someday idea.

I’m not sure who loved this cake by more, the birthday boy or his pup. 10/10 would recommend including your dog and their cakes.

Having a late night working on album and frame orders so I just had to share a few images from a recent session. Really excited to see their final custom framed print!!

Mom’s dress, big sister’s dress, and brother’s pants are all from the client closet.

Summer calendar is now open. We generally recommend booking at least 2 months in advance.

Heirloom portraits are also perfect for first communion portraits. Have your child wear their dress or suit for their portraits instead of the traditional smocked outfits!

I’ve been quiet here lately, my heart has been feeling heavy recently. On top of that, I’ve had a few injuries, my dog ate a bowl of grapes, snow days, illnesses (that I and my kids had), ice dam leaks, broken dishwasher, the list goes on.

They slowed me down so I thank you for your patience! I can’t wait to host the next heirloom event. I do need your help deciding on a date. They’ll either be on March 29th or May 3rd. Vote below or head to my stories where I’ll need help making other decisions.
