Today, on what would have been Gabe’s 49th birthday, I am strong in my resolve not only to get for my husband, but to ensure that his name and story ring throughout the halls of congress. Testifying before congress and making sure that this is the legacy of City of Lakeway Government and Lakeway Police Department one of dishonor. Travis County District Attorney’s Office found that no felony level crimes were committed and referred me to Travis County Attorney’s Office to prosecute misdemeanor committed by the driver and investigators. I love you Gabe and I will never stop for you.

I didn’t shake because I was scared to speak.
I shook because my body is breaking under the weight of a city refusing accountability.
This is what it looks like when a widow with disabilities is forced to fight a government alone.

Tonight, I stood at the podium and my legs gave out.
I had to be physically held up.
Four people helped me out of the building so I wouldn’t collapse.

This is not weakness.
This is lupus. PTSD. Grief. Two years of being ignored.

I told them the facts:
– A citation exists.
– Body camera footage is missing.
– Oversight was refused.
– My husband’s death was used as a political talking point instead of being properly investigated.

The city went home.
I went home with a body that can’t recover from this stress.

This recorded phone call between officer Chris Bonnet reveals officers failed myself, my husband and their entire community. I will not stop fighting for for Gabriel, who lost his life after being hit by a dump truck… the driver received a citation for Too Fast For Conditions and it was marked NO ACCIDENT. This is a case in the making, I have so much irrefutable evidence and the city refused to do an independent investigation into the actions of their officers, violating my and causing me immeasurable and suffering.
