...because there’re some people who are telling rumors against us, you’ve to challenge all that, as they’re saying that I left my children!
that I’m stupid and irresponsible!
but personally, at least, I’m searching for someone who can understand us,
to realize our suffering, to communicate with us, to understand our misery and acknowledge our struggle, people are telling lies about us so as to discredit us in front of our families, they keep blaming us, but we’ll keep walking towards our goal! We don’t care about their rumours...
Excerpts from an interview with one of the protestors at Imider protest camp

Such an honor to have a friend write an impression a beautiful prose inspired by your images, proud to have someone like Amin as part of my very limited circle of friends, such a mad poet with a big heart...
The hour glass at work here could house all the pulverized memories of pain one can pour into one’s heart.
Here time is of no linear or circular nature but of scoops of the infinitely asked and the infinitely answered question.
Smoothly rolling, silently grating, leaving you alone with the indifferent world.
Here the book of Job (Ayub) is writ upon water for the heedless and upon vein for the true Guardians.

It was almost a year ago when I decided to do an overland trip from Morocco all the way down to South Africa. I would have never thought, my trip would have come to a halt along the way in Imider’s protest camp, somewhere 300 miles away from the city of Marakesh in Morocco, where one of the biggest silver mine on the African continent is setup there, it extracts 240 tons of silver per year. The farms from the villages of Imider have gone dry due to the extensive use of the underground water by the mine, so they started to protest, and managed to shut down a major water pipeline on top of Mount Albban. The group of protesters have been living on top of this mountain since 2011 now, protecting the village's underground water, Also known to be one of the longest sit-in in Morocco's history. Long story how I managed to reach these amazing people full of heart and poetry, but quickly I managed to be part of their family and share similar stories and struggles we have here back in Iran about the issues of environment and water. During a week of my stay I started photographing and also filming my observations there, I felt I needed to create something that could show a small portion of their struggle and sacrifice. After a month of hard work I managed to complete this short and today I will gladly have an exhibition and screening of the film in a festival in Casablanca, and most importantly some of my friends from imider’s protest camp will also be there. So happy to have contributed to their long years of fight and struggle to their amazing patience to hold on to that area and protect their water resources and their rights. By coincidence yesterday was also my birthday, and I always have this thing to gift someone very special to me, this year I would like to give this special gift to the people of Imider’s protest camp, I hope their vision and resilience to hold on to their natural rights will always stay alive.

By distilling their harvest of pink roses, locals make a fragrant ingredient.
