Thank you Film Coop for offering this stellar line-up of films. 🫶🏼Confessional, tender, heart wrenching and real. It was such an inspirational evening to share such raw and honest work. I’m so glad I was able to make this screening last min. It was my first time at the film coop after volunteering for their gala this past Feb. I’m new to analog cinema & I’m just so grateful and inspired by the celluloid community in nyc. Super excited to discover more. Thank you to the artists who shared their work and for the thought provoking q&a that followed. ✨

Happy Birthday Maya. 🎈
“Experimental cinema, particularly the work of Maya Deren, offered a framework for bending perception and exploring alternate realities. Deren’s surrealist manipulation of perception and space—seen in Meshes of the Afternoon conveys how film could serve as both psychological inquiry and embodied expression. Through her use of repetition—the staircase, the key turning into a knife, and the doubling of her image—renders time fluid, blurring dream and reality. As Deren writes, “The still photograph is concerned with the isolation of the moment... Films are concerned with the way in which a moment passes and becomes the next” This understanding of temporality underscores my own shift from still to moving image, where repetition and gesture become ways of translating emotion into visual rhythm. “

Happy Worldwide Pinhole Day!
Medium format neg scans
2017 Victoria, Australia

Many years ago I lived and traveled around Australia. I interned at a place called Gold Street studios with the amazing, Ellie Young. During my time there I took a wide variety of historic and alt process photography workshops. ✨One of them being pinhole photography with the accomplished, David Tatnall . David’s passion for pinhole sparked a deep curiosity in me. We would go out exploring the vast landscapes of the wild Australia territory. I can’t thank David enough for these lighthearted frolics in nature. Where he generously lent me cameras and provided me film for shooting. We’d have tea and lil snacks and just enjoy the peacefulness of our surroundings. David would develop my negatives and give me contact prints the next time we met. I can’t believe how fortunate I was to find this amazing group of artists. Their kindness and support has uplifted my spirits from afar in the darkest of times. I miss Australia often and am beyond grateful for the years I spent traveling there. Anyway, happy pinhole day. Thank you David & Ellie & Alan, and all the kind and talented artists I met during this time. You are missed.
ps: I included a few closeups if you scroll thru !☺️ oh and give it up for Florence and the machine, who I saw play in Melbourne while there!!! 😆

What a wild time in my life this was.
Discovery. Ayahuasca journeys in Pisac. Climbing mountains on San Pedro. (seen in last photo)

I’m not in a story mood today so I’m going to keep it short with vivid snippets that paint a picture.

Keep tuned for a few verticals sacred valley bbs next. ✨

Far off Friday teleports us to Northern California 2010ish. 🌲
Swipe to last photo to witness the sheer scale of these giant trees.

Trying something new here. A poll! The question is should I start selling prints thru Instagram? Seems websites are dead for print sales these days. As someone who recently graduated and is on unemployment looking for work, I could use the extra cash. Also considering doing mini analog shoots and more tin type sessions once it’s nicer. Thoughts & comments below. 👇 🙏🏼💜

all film is unedited original scans by yours truly developed 🙏🏼

Throwback Thursday teleports us to Northern California 2010ish. 🌲

I’ll never forget the first time I visited Northern California. Where the redwood forests meet the ocean. Humboldt county is truly where the magic is at. This was also my first cross country trip. I remember my friend and I drove from buffalo, ny to arcata, ca in 2 days! I arrived in a state of beautiful bewilderment. I quickly rented a car to explore. I remember driving to Strawberry Rock outside of Eureka and running into my friend Keith from Buffalo, which was wild. I also remember sleeping in my rental on the side of the road and waking up stuck in mud and needing to get towed out. 😅I returned the car to the rental agency mins before my flight home, covered in mud. I couldn’t get over the foggy ocean and wild rock formations. Or the sheer magnitude of the redwoods and how their scale skewed everything I knew before that. Stay tuned for part II northern Cali which features some foggy redwood captures.

I’m going to attempt to share more film from previous years and from my travels. I have been strictly capturing with film since I was 10, so I have a lot to share. Crazy to believe this was almost 20 years ago and I still feel like a bb.

Which is your fav? 🙌 also, should I continue this throw back thur thang? 🤔
