🤍 Helpful Tips: How to Save Flood-Damaged Photos

🤍 If your family photos were affected by the flood, don’t give up on them just yet. Some can still be saved if you act quickly.

Here are a few things that may help:

📸 If they’re wet:
• Keep them wet until you can separate them—don’t let them dry stuck together.
• Rinse gently with clean, cool water to remove mud and debris.
• Lay them face-up on paper towels or hang them by the edge to air dry indoors, away from direct sunlight and heat.

📸 If photos are stuck together:
• Soak them in clean, cool water for a while and gently try to separate them. Never force them apart.

📸 If you have too many to deal with right now:
• Place the photos in a sealed freezer bag and freeze them. This can help stop further damage until you have time to work on them.

📸 Once they’re dry:
• Scan them or take clear photos with your phone so you have a digital backup.

I know these are “just photos” to some people, but to so many families they’re irreplaceable memories of loved ones, childhoods, weddings, and moments that can never be recreated. My heart is with everyone trying to pick up the pieces after this flood.

I hope this helps even one family save a small piece of their story. 🤍
