Meet Max.

Max is a stuffed dog who came home from a Cape Cod gift shop in 1986. His fur is worn thin, his stitches have seen better days, and he's traveled farther than anyone would expect a stuffed animal to go. He's been to Australia. He was there for the birth of a child. He's sat quietly through decades of ordinary days and life-changing moments.

Most people would see an old toy.

But that's the thing about the objects we keep. They become witnesses to our lives.

Max is one of the first stories in our new photography project, The Things We Kept, a collection of portraits and personal stories centered around the objects people couldn't bring themselves to throw away.

A letter. A bracelet. A photograph. A stuffed dog.

Sometimes the smallest things carry the biggest stories.

**The Things We Kept**

This is the note I kept from my grandmother.

In 2008, she slipped a check into an envelope and sent it to me with this note. The money was meant to help me buy a laptop so I could make the leap from film photography to digital and finally start editing with Photoshop.

At the time, it was just a note.

Now it's a reminder that sometimes the people who believe in us become part of the story we tell for the rest of our lives.

That's what *The Things We Kept* is about.

It's a portrait project celebrating the objects we couldn't bring ourselves to throw away—the ticket stub, the letter, the teddy bear, the recipe card, the watch, the photograph, the random little thing that means absolutely nothing to anyone else... and everything to you.

Your session includes:
🖤 A professional portrait session of you with your object
🖤 A copy of the coffee table book

🖤 Inclusion in possible gallery exhibition of the series.

Some stories will be funny. Some will be heartbreaking. Some will be about love, loss, family, friendship, hope, or the life you almost had.

We're excited to announce a new portrait project called The Things We Kept.

What is something you've kept all these years?

A letter from someone you loved.
A worn teddy bear.
A concert ticket.
A friendship bracelet.
A recipe card covered in stains.
A photograph tucked away in a drawer.

This project is a collection of stories told through photographs and treasured objects. Each participant will be photographed with an item they've held onto, and we'll include a short written story about why it matters. Together, these portraits and memories will become a beautiful coffee table book celebrating the objects that have traveled through life with us.

We're looking for people with meaningful keepsakes and the stories behind them. The item doesn't need to be valuable. Sometimes the things worth the most are worth nothing at all.

Participants will receive:
📖 A copy of the finished coffee table book
📸 A digital copy of their portrait

The first 10 participants are just $80.
After the first 10 spots are filled, sessions will be $99.
