Word to the wise: if it feels cheap, it prolly is. 🙃
I’ll start with this (read to the very end)
I’ve wanted to speak on this topic for a long time now, but wanted to sit with my thoughts and words before I spoke up.
Let’s talk Network Marketing, MLMs…
When I started using Olive Tree People, I jumped all in, in a way that was not familiar to who I am. The comparison trap got the best of me. I saw women ranking up quickly, and promising the same. But tbh for some, esp in network marketing, it is an unrealistic expectation for many reasons. There I said it. 🙀Network marketing gets a baddddd rap. For so many different reasons. There’s some good and bad things that come with MLMs and some within the community are bad apples and place that stigma on the good ones. And some companies are bad as they come.
Girls can be pushy.
Competitive — even if not intended.
MLMs are on the downfall because of lack of transparency
Hustle culture and work until you die and don’t have a life are commonplace
Brainwashing
Manipulation tactics
Unrealistic expectations that you can make $
Clickish behaviors
Money making schemes
Golly the list goes on… and on…
I’m not one to push anything on anyone. I have a competitive spirit in some arenas -network marketing not being one of them. So I will move at my own pace here. Golly I have to say that network marketing can have such a hold on you! I found myself embarrassedly reaching out to friends/family because I was sold on something that seemed so legit. That is not me. That is not how I roll. It felt cheap.
Word to the wise: if it feels cheaply done, it will probably reap cheap rewards. ✌️
part 2 coming tomorrow…
