I’m a former archivist, who focused on restoring water and heat damaged negatives and photographs!
Here are some tips to save your photos:

As soon as possible, locate and very carefully remove photos from the house, placing them in tubs of clean distilled water. Enlist help!

Lift loose photos and albums from dirty water, avoiding touching the face of the photos if at all possible. Remove photos from water-logged albums and separate any that are stacked together, staying careful not to rub or touch the wet emulsion of the photo surface.

Gently dunk each photo in a bucket or sink of clear, cold water. Don't rub the photos, and change the water frequently.

If you have time and space right away, lay each wet photo face-up on clean paper towels. Don't use newspapers or printed paper towels, as the ink may transfer to your wet photos.

Change the towels as they become saturated until the photos dry. Try to dry the photos inside if possible, as sun and wind will cause photos to curl and crack.

Photos may also be hung on a line with small clothespins. The photo may be damaged at the contact location of the pin, so try to attach it in a corner.

Once photos are dried, important, historic and heirloom photos should be scanned and digitally restored, as the integrity of the original is likely compromised.

Please reach out if you need help with photo preservation!

For the second straight year, UAFS is the most affordable university in Arkansas.

UAFS continues to hold the designation after changes were made in tuition and fees at universities across the state for the 2018-19 school year, according to data released by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.

Next year in-state undergraduate students will pay just $166.30 per credit hour at UAFS, excluding additional mandatory fees. A full-time student can expect to pay $7,127.50 for a year of schooling at UAFS. On average UAFS is more than $1,300 cheaper than other public four-year universities, according to ADHE data.

“As an institution serving a large portion of first-generation and Pell-eligible students, UAFS recognizes the importance of an affordable, accessible education that will help our students achieve social mobility,” Dr. Paul B. Beran, UAFS chancellor, said. “Not only are we committed to remaining one of the most affordable universities in the state, we are looking at innovative opportunities and programs to keep costs low for our students moving forward.”

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” -Calvin Coolidge

I am so proud of you, Kyler Putman. You have persevered through a difficult year full of growth and change and emerged on the other side with ever more ambition and hope and a degree on top of it all. There is nothing more powerful than the lesson to push through hardship and I know you’ve learned that lesson well. I love you always and I’m excited to see where your next adventure takes you.

It’s happening. My photo of Reese made it on to Awkward Family Photos. If that’s not a win, what is? 😂

I was in the hospital with salmonella poisoning, followed by a severe allergic reaction to the medicine I was given for it, but I’m pulling through as fast as possible to get back on track!

Galleries will be delivered soon, thank you all so much for your patience! ♥️
