Actually, Instagram doesn’t have enough slides in a carousel to adequately cover Asher’s session.

The locations were epic. The outfits were killer. The red hair was outrageously cool. The car? Hello, yes please.

Literally my dream shoot with a boy in every way.

It helps that his mom is a former photographer and really knows how to put together a great look. I’ve known this family since before they had kids, and I photographed Asher’s sister a couple of years ago for her senior portraits. I was actually at her baby shower! So getting to photograph one of the Dunning kids for their senior portraits is such a full-circle moment for me.

And this family is FULL of redheads. Which you know I love.

Asher brought two of his favorite things to his session: his car and a basketball, which are pretty much the center of his life right now. He also happens to be best friends with another one of my senior boys this year, whose session I cannot wait to show you too. I have such an incredible group of kids in front of my camera this year.

Thank you, Dunning family, for being so cool. And thank you, Asher, for being such an incredible model/client/human. Did I mention he’s also funny, polite, and has an awesome personality?

So lucky to get to do this.

SYLVIA. All the way from Pennsylvania!

Sylvia just happened to have her senior session scheduled for the hottest, smokiest day of the entire year. And because she had a red-eye flight leaving that night, rescheduling wasn’t an option. So we did our very best with what Mother Nature handed us, and LOOK at these gorgeous photos. It turned out absolutely beautiful.

Have I mentioned that I love photographing redheads? I think maybe once or twice. šŸ˜‚ But oh my gosh, Sylvia’s red hair is extraordinarily gorgeous. I love her coloring, and every clothing choice she made was perfect for her complexion and her style!

I photographed her older sister a few years ago, so it was especially sweet getting to work with this family again and having that full-circle moment with their last senior.

Thank you, Shattls family, for trusting me once again with your gorgeous daughter. I loved getting to photograph Sylvia!

RYLEK!!

First thing you should know about Rylek is that he loves motocross. Second thing you should know is that he is not afraid of anything.

He could not wait to get on his bike, pop wheelies and do some tricks for me. We had such a blast out in the Gorge together.

His whole family came along, so we got photos with everyone, including his brother who graduated a couple of years ago. We photographed him with his motocross bike, his very well loved truck, and at the end, at his mom’s request, his favorite Spider-Man shirt. He was obsessed with Spider-Man when he was little, so of course we had to document that too.

There were so many things he brought to his shoot that meant something to him and his family, which is exactly what I love about senior sessions.

And as much as I loved photographing him flying around on that bike, one of my favorite things was getting those freckles and that adorable smile for his mom.

Mom and Grandma came to his viewing session and let’s just say there were a LOT of tears. Their last boy is graduating. ā¤ļø

My evening with Mia!

We FINALLY had beautiful weather and the most gorgeous sunset. I definitely can’t say that for every shoot I’ve had this year. Between the smoke and unpredictable weather, it’s been a challenging summer, but Mia got the perfect night.

She and her mom, Kate, showed up with the cutest outfits, and Mia came prepared. She had poses saved, knew what she wanted, and had already decided we were putting flowers in her boots. The girl had a vision!

I love when my seniors bring ideas to their session. We can absolutely create the images you’ve been dreaming about, and then we build so much more around them. Mia ended up with more than 70 images in her final gallery, several adorable outfits, the most spectacular summer tan, and of course we had to get close enough to show off those ridiculously cute freckles.

I had photographed her mom Kate before too, so everyone already knew what to expect, which made the whole evening so easy and fun.

But my favorite part might have been the very end. The sky turned the prettiest orangey color and we had Mia spinning and dancing in that last bit of summer light. Peak summer senior session.

Thank you Mia and Kate! You guys were the best!

Paisley is a true cowgirl. She rides both Western and English, and if you ask her where she feels most like herself, it’s in a pair of jeans, cowboy boots and her belt.

But like most girls, there’s another side to her too. The one who wants to put on a dress and frolic through a field of flowers. And we definitely did both:)

Paisley also has the best dry sense of humor. At her shoot she told me she’d seen photos of another girl wearing a cowboy hat backwards for the ENTIRE shoot and it was driving her crazy. šŸ˜‚ I had to agree. Western might be trendy right now, but this girl is the real deal.

Going into her reveal, Paisley was most excited to see the photos in her jeans and belt because she was sure those would be her favorites. And then she saw the denim dress photos and suddenly we had a contender.

That’s one of my favorite things about a senior session. You can go into it absolutely sure you know which outfit or location you’re going to love most, and then the photos surprise you.

I’ve had so much fun working with Paisley and her parents and putting together her final order. I cannot WAIT for them to see her album and canvases all finished.

Thank you for choosing me, Paisley. I loved getting to photograph every side of you!

Finlee is a bucket of sunshine. We met and about five minutes later we were already planning our next shoot together.

I photographed her brother back in 2020, and he’s friends with my son, so in my head Finlee is still the little girl I remember running around and riding her horse. Which might explain why I kept accidentally calling her Preslee during her shoot and then immediately apologizing. šŸ˜‚

Her grandma came to her photo reveal, and the animation between her and Finlee’s mom was priceless. They were absolutely blown away by her beauty, and so was I. I’ve known her mom for a decade, and she is every bit as bubbly and full of life as Finlee, so clearly we know where she gets it.

Finlee, you are pure sunshine and I cannot WAIT for our horse shoot. This one isn’t over yet.

Annika’s session was a BIG adventure. This was the one where I got a thorn stuck so far into my thumb that I almost had to go to the emergency room to have it removed. So that should give you some idea of what kind of adventure we were on šŸ˜‚

We climbed a LOT of hills looking for the best viewpoints, and it paid off with one of the most incredible sunsets at the top. Some of my very favorite images from her entire session came from up there.

When you first meet Annika, she’s quiet and reserved, but about halfway through the shoot I could really see her opening up and having so much fun. Of course, it’s also pretty hard to stay quiet and reserved when you’re hiking up huge hills in cowboy boots with your photographer who apparently has no concern for her own personal safety.

At the very end of the shoot we found the most beautiful patch of wildflowers and somehow managed to make this one area feel like five completely different locations.

Annika is a volleyball player and is heading into her final season, which she’s really looking forward to. It was so nice getting to know you and your mom and dad, Annika. I hope you have the VERY best senior year!

Quinn Massari at a vineyard just felt right. With a last name like Massari and the way this kid dresses, I kept joking that these looked less like senior photos and more like the beginning of his future career as an Italian winemaker. šŸ˜‚

Quinn showed up looking GOOD, which clearly runs in the family because his mom was there and was equally impeccably dressed. He has such great taste and honestly this location could not have fit him better.

Quinn is a football player at Lakeridge and was right in the middle of getting ready for his senior season when we shot these, which is such an exciting way to head into senior year. He’s also a golfer, so of course we had to grab a few on the golf course while we were there.

I still think Massari Vineyards has a pretty good ring to it, just saying.

Hope you have the BEST senior year, Quinn, and good luck with your football season!

Sammy was very specific about what she wanted for her senior shoot: rustic fences, sunset, golden grasses. NO FLOWERS.

Wait. No flowers? Okayyyyy, that’s a new one!! šŸ˜‚

My life is basically checking fields for tall grasses and gardens for the status of the flowers, so I kind of loved that someone hated flowers and knew exactly what she wanted.

Our location had all the elements: barn, fences, open fields. We started with a fringe dress, cowboy hat and boots, which was perfect, and worked our way into some Seven jeans and Sammy’s championship belt buckles (let’s gooooooo) until finally the star arrived: her horse, Adam.

From then on, it was pretty straightforward. We were going to photograph these two together in their natural element and really try to show the connection between them.

I love my horse girl photos so much. And these sunset images are some of my favorites I’ve taken this year. Thank you Sammy for the fun evening! You were amazing and I had so much fun!
