As my season for Christmas mini sessions are quickly coming to an end...with permission from her parents, I wanted to share my experience with a recent shoot.

When her grandmother reached out to me to book a session, she explained to me, she didn't know how it would go, or if she'd even cooperate. What happened was truly special.

As I was photographing this little girl, she had the most amazing time just being herself. Wandering, investigating, laughing, and enjoying the world around her. Nothing was forced. Nothing needed to be “perfect.” The magic came from her curiosity and happiness in the moment.There’s something truly special about giving autistic and non-verbal children the space to experience a photo session in their own way. When they’re free to explore, move, and simply exist comfortably, their joy comes through so naturally. This little girl exudes joy. There is just something so magical about letting children be themselves during a photoshoot. Most of the time, she didn't know I was even there, and she didn't look at the camera often, but I was able to capture some special moments of her, just being her.
