As a photographer (and videographer), I always strive to get “THE” shot. The one that makes people go “Wow! That is stunning!”. The one you want to frame and put on your living room wall.

But my favorite shots are always the ones filled with emotion or that tell the real story of your day. These photos are the ones that light me up and make me proud to be a photographer 💕

(Side note: I am a HUGE fan of black and white photos for documentary moments - this is why I include a color and black and white copy for every image. It strips everything back, pulls you into the scene and is just filled with so much more emotion- in my opinion. What do you think?)

Here are some “documentary” photos from Wendi & Mark’s day (minus the first one. It’s just pretty- got to keep the feed in check 😂) from Wendi helping her mom with her makeup, her dog trying to snuggle up to her during the ceremony to all of the emotional speech moments.

POV: You get engagement photos on the moon

Backstory. I’ve had this session in my head for years - the location, the outfits, I created a detailed mood board, Marion lost sleep over finding the perfect dress (obviously she nailed it), etc. So needless to say, this session meant a lot to Marion and I and we wanted it to be perfect (spoiler - it was)!

Flash forward. Marion and Grant drove 3+ hours to get to their first session, we spent about an hour and a half doing the first part, then we all drove another 50 minutes to the next location, walked/mildly hiked/sweated a little all the way into our spot and then … Grant realizes that he forgot his cream shirt and was wearing a black shirt 😱 A BLACK SHIRT?! With all of these light, dreamy tones - NOOOOO! The session would be ruined! *dramatizing for the story, but not really because what you wear truly matters and can change the whole “vibe”* Long story short - Grant, without complaint, RUNS all the way back to the car (half a mile) because we have to hurry because we are losing daylight and then RUNS all the way back (another half a mile), he does the whole session with a great attitude, nails it and Marion & I’s dream comes true 🥳💕🤣🙌

I know this may not seem like a big deal but what Grant did was such a true act of love for Marion. Not just going back for the shirt, but the drive (they drove back home that night too!), doing BOTH sessions and just having a great time with it. I don’t know a lot of other men who would have done the same. Pure sacrifice for the person you love 💕 I’m so happy for Marion to be cherished this much. She deserves it! Cheers to you Grant! You are going to make an AMAZING husband! 🥂

YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW! We got the most incredible photos at Cannon Beach/Indian Beach and I am dying to share every single one! This is just one part of the session.

I’ve known for a few years through social media over our shared love of beauty (she is the most incredible makeup artist - check her out!) and she made my dreams come true when she told me they would be coming from Chicago to Oregon and I just so happen to be an HOUR AWAY (fate). I’ve been telling her from the moment I started my photography business that I NEED a session with her and Jake and what can I say, I’m a Manifestation Queen! 💅

“La Push, baby. It’s La Push”

This session was COMPLETELY SPONTANEOUS! These two (three, including Indie) were absolute strangers to me.

While visiting Forks, WA my husband surprised me by driving to La Push Beach. I, of course, brought my camera with me and while walking around and seeing this amazing landscape with all of the driftwood, the overcast, moody day, I kept saying I wish I could do a session here. And then it happened! I saw this perfect little trio playing on the beach and did something I always wanted to do - asked if they would be willing to do a quick session with me and LOOK HOW AMAZING IT TURNED OUT!

All of these photos (and more to come) were taken in the span of about 10 minutes (I had an elopement in an hour so I really had to make every moment count). I am so thankful these two didn’t think I was a complete weirdo and said yes to this session! They were awesome!

Janet dreamed of Twilight photos. I said, “Hold on tight Spider Monkey” 🥀

But really - look at how gorgeous Janet & Sai’s day was! This was everything my little photographer heart desires - Moody, Romantic, Forest vibes and the most wonderful couple 🖤

Janet & Sai traveled from Southern California to live out Janet’s Twilight dream wedding in Oregon and might I say - it was PERFECT! I feel so blessed to have been chosen to document their day and to have made an amazing new friend.

(Fun fact: we also walked out to the same song - Turning Page) 💕
