This is a collection of some of my favorite photographs taken during 2018. From two children graduating during the same year, one from high school and the other from college, my family and clients provided me with lots of opportunities and a diverse array of assignments. Teaching, weddings, portraits, dance, sports, interior photography, personal work and vacations kept me busy. I’ve come to learn my daughter is arguably one of my toughest editors and critics. I like that though. And she is getting pretty good at photography herself.

I am so very grateful for all of the opportunities I received over the past year to work with so many wonderful people. From the incredible and supportive staff over at USA Today Sports Images to the awesome brides and grooms who’s weddings I covered, as well as the families and young high school seniors I got to meet and photograph, I thank you all.

As I reflect on 2018 and embrace 2019 I keep thinking about what I tell my students everyday in class. It’s always a great day when you are making pictures.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

What a great start to the new year! I photographed Cy Jackson yesterday for my first senior portrait session of 2018. The weather was seasonally warm and made for an enjoyable portrait session. Cy is a senior at Seton Catholic High School and is my nephew. It seems like yesterday he was crawling around. What a fine young gentlemen he has become. Cy is considering attending WSU Pullman this fall.

Ben's portrait session was unique because many of the locations we went to were from places he remembers as a kid growing up in Washougal. Ben's mom, Dion Oakes Gutkind, was extraordinary in her support for making Ben's senior portrait session so successful. What a wonderful experience for all and a great way to kick off Ben's senior year at Washougal High School. Go Panthers!

It was a hot evening but not hot enough to stop Lindsay and Ryan to pose for engagement photos. Congratulations Lindsay and Ryan! And a special thank you to Tammy Weissenfluh for making it all come together.

I really enjoyed getting a chance to reconnect with Justin Flores during his senior portrait session recently. It had been awhile since I last spoke with him and I was excited to hear about what was going on with him and his family. I am grateful to the Flores family for hiring me to photograph both of their kids over the years. Justin is a fine young gentlemen and I am excited to hear he is looking forward to his senior year at Columbia River and college after graduation. I wish Justin and his family all the best. Go Chieftains!
