This time of year on is hard on my creative, seasonal loving heart. I long for the golden hues of red, orange and yellow that dress the trees.. the cool weather where you can actually wear cute fall clothes or costumes and not sweat to death.

Seeing the stunning images from so many around the US and the world- filled with every autumn vibe I could dream of always seems to make me play the comparison game, which we all know is never good nor healthy.

So I set out with Olivia the other evening to find what I’ll call my secret somewhat fall spot. And it did my soul good.♥️

I am so proud of how Hunter as adapted so quickly to kindergarten and all the changes. He absolutely loves school and his teacher and is so excited to tell me about his day when I pick him up. Makes this momma’s heart surgery happy.

“Making the decision to have a child - it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”

I remember my mom telling me this quote many years ago, before I had kids, & then after as well. I have never fully grasped the meaning until today. The day when my first baby starts kindergarten. And my last baby starts preschool the next.

I am not ok.

“The days are long, but the years are short.”

We’ve all heard this time & time again. I know it frustrated me durning those hard times in the newborn stages as a new mom. Then again, trying to figure it out with a newborn & a toddler. Heck, there are times even now I may inwardly grimace when I hear that quote, while I’m taming a terrible two tantrum & negotiating with a 5 yr old going on 15, at the same time, not remembering the last time I used the bathroom alone, or ate something other than leftovers from the kids plates, or trying to figure out what day I’m on of dry shampoo. When all I want is 5 minutes to myself.

And now, here I am - trying to grasp how 5.5 years went by in the blink of an eye. Where my entire being & identity is a SAHM & how I’ll now have days to myself. The house will be eerily quiet. No laughter & giggles, no arguments, no one calling “momma” a million times over.

I’m not ok.

I’m terrified. I’m excited. I’m sad. I’m happy. I feel guilty. I feel a tiny bit free. I’m not sure what I’m feeling. I want to cry at how deceivingly fast time went. I want to press pause. I want more time, more cuddles, more hugs. I want to keep them little forever. Not having to worry or face the evils of this world, the hurt - only the joys, the happiness, the love.

But here we are - the day I physically see my heart go off walking outside of my body without me. ♥️
