There is a beautiful eeriness to the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. The Chapel, which you can see as you drive down Wilshire Blvd, is dilapidated like many of the buildings on the grounds. There is a sense of privacy where pain comes and goes with each veteran, medical worker and staff member. As you drive in from the blvd, it feels as if you’ve gone through a Twilight Zone wormhole into a place you shouldn’t be; like a bedroom of someone who has died that has been preserved and dust has collected.
