I was up in Tampa for their 10th annual Duck Race.

They had some booths set up in Curtis Hixon Park with vendors and stuff for the kids. Not a huge crowd. We bought some merch at very reasonable prices.

I had already adopted some ducks ahead of time and my son did the same day of the race.

9,826 ducks were adopted, raising almost $40,000!

The race began at noon with a top prize of $5,000. We did not win.

And, yes, I took a pick or two of the ducks racing down the river.

Spring is in the air. April showers bring the flowers that brighten our days. Life begins anew.

At long last, the final chapter in the story of my most recent visit to Myakka River State Park.

This is Fisherman's Loop, another spot I never fail to visit. The biggest change since I first discovered this little spot is in the number of people who know about it. Years ago my car would be the only one there for an hour or more. Now it is often hard to find a parking place (there are not many so I am not talking about hundreds of people).

There are always gators here whether lounging along the bank or floating hidden in the water.

A walk in the woods. Myakka River State Park part D.

This is the nature walk at the Canopy Walk. I refer to such hikes as "a walk in the woods" because they are a pleasant but not too many exciting things to see.

Of course any walk in the woods offers something for this photographer.

Part tres of my Myakka River State Park visit.

Monochrome Sunday.

These were taken on the road leading out to the bird walk and Clay Gulley.

I stopped to go out to the mud hole. It had been a few years since I had been there. It is off trail and does not appear on maps of the park. I found the spot, but it has been so dry that there was no mud!

I have included a couple pics from my last visit there so you will understand why I wanted to find it again.

Part 2 of my Myakka River State Park adventure.

These are from the lake and boat basin. The water was low enough that the boats were not going out on tours.

This is the area where the cafe and gift shop are located. One can rent canoes or bikes here.
