Famous novels, six-toed cats, a plethora of hunting trophies, and a vast collection of art stand out from my visit to the home of Ernest Hemingway. It humbled me to stand where he once stood and realize that he wasn't just a character from my history books but a living, complex human who created enduring pieces of literature.
On the day I visited, I was lucky enough to photograph one of the famous six-toed cats catching some sunshine on the porch.
Niki prints her images on fiber-base black and white mat surface paper in the darkroom, then using Q-tips and cotton balls, she applies a thin coat of oil paint over the surface allowing the image to gently be seen through the oil paint.
