I think we need to rename this ‘buckwheat waffle’ from to be more fitting 🥞🍓🍌 to this sight and taste, don’t you? Berry Banana Dream Waffle? Magical Fruit Waffle with Cashew Cream? The harvest cafe is one of our favorite shops for reading, working, chilling. This is just one of many reasons why. If you’re hanging in Ventura it’s a must stop.

I’ve been doing yoga consistently for a little over two weeks now! Weee! 🙌 I’ve been thinking...should I keep up with lifting in my gym, or can yoga daily replace strength training 🏋️‍♀️? I got great advice from my friend, .catshak, who’s had a lot of experience with yoga. She recommended I focus on upper back and hamstring weight training to balance out the front body focus I get in yoga. So I used that strategy last night at the gym. Felt great.

Yogis: How do you round out your yoga practice? Any weight training advice?

We’re all in this together. The planet is going to be fine - we’re not🚶🏻‍♀️. We’re slowly suffocating ourselves and corporate and political greed, ineffective policies and over consumption are at the helm. Seeing the faces of our youth protesting for a better future left me wondering what’s next?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What will these protests and strikes change? Will I capitalize on this energy and do more? What did you think of the protests around the world and in your cities? Did it engage you to act?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you .catshak and for taking time away from work and joining in their effort.

We haven’t made our famous Tofu Scramble in a while, but we whipped up a batch this weekend and it was 😋💣. We also made a basil sauce (swipe right), and that quick recipe is below. Tofu scramble is one of the easiest weekend brunches that can last through the week! Bonus if you make the simple sauce because you can also use it over pasta or as a dip in the week. 🤙✌️. Who doesn’t love a two-fer amiright?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍴Basil Sauce
- 1 large handful of basil
- 1 c cashews (soaked)
- 1 garlic clove
- 1/4-1/2 c plant based milk
- 1-2 tsp lemon juice
- salt to taste
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Blend in blender or food processor until well mixed and serve!

We’re really getting into the groove of refillable and low waste products. These are just a few of our recent adds. As it is with any change, it’s a transition so we’ve been patient with ourselves as we switch everything over. 🧽🧼🛁
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️We now have refillable hand and dish soaps from downtown Ventura. They scent them for us with essential oils!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️We just ran out of shampoo and conditioner so are trying the all-in-one shampoo bars from .r.liggett (no conditioner needed) (we get them at the shop but you can find them online - great reviews).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️finally got dryer balls.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️The olive oils are from that they happily refill for you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It feels great to reduce our reliance on single-use plastic containers or other packaging. If this is an option where you live, think about starting small and trying it out. I’ve seen target selling the shampoo bars and reusable paper towels. We’ve also ditched napkins for cloth. Look around your house and think about the many ways you can begin to reduce and start with one item at a time!

Our super cool friends had us over for dinner last night. They walked around plucking radishes, carrots, corn, lettuce, tomatoes and more from their bomb-ass garden 🌽🥬🥕. Then they put it all into an incredible dinner spread, that started with these radishes and carrots lightly sprinkled with sea salt because THAT’S ALL THEY NEEDED 😯. Watching their kids scarf them down was heaven. The other veggies were put into the most flavorful tacos that we ate while surrounded by their fig, avocado and strawberry guava trees. Hello . Thankful for the love of friends and a night of nourishing our bodies, minds and souls 🙏.

After moving to Taiwan and selling almost everything we owned, we realized how much better our lives have been living with less. Neither of us were hoarders or kept too too much around before, but we quickly became aware of our excesses once they were removed. We kept lists of what we actually used each day and have remained diligent in reducing the things we buy. As we started decorating our place in California, we wanted to keep it light, minimal and airy. Was each item functional? Necessary? That goes for furniture, utensils, appliances, clothes, our food. Even old keepsakes. Reducing our consumption and things around us not only helps the environment, but has helped clear up the clutter in our minds! We feel more creative, less stressed and less overwhelmed each day. Are there things you could do without? Do you want to reduce more and if so, do you struggle with it?
