In honor of today’s “Mad Hatter’s Tea Luncheon” benefitting the Dallas Arboretum Women’s Council, I thought I would share some curious Ladies hats I saw in London at Fortnum & Mason a few years ago. Maybe Michelle and Nancy will see some comparable stylish hats at today’s event 🙂 👒

My favorite is the “Sandwich Headpiece” a bargain at only £595…. Homer Simpson would love that…. and the reptile bag to go with the ensemble is priceless… literally….

Always give me the window seat please - Not far after the San Francisco take-off is yet another awesome view looking toward Yosemite. Lake Tahoe in the upper left, smaller Mono Lake just below it. Stunningly pretty!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Just south of “Silicon Valley” lies a beautiful serene setting of soft mountains and a mosaic pattern of farmlands, quite different from the “Wired” world just to the north⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Escape from the Texas Polar Vortex 2021 is about to end at SFO - I can spend a week without sub zero temps, ice and snow and hope my pipes didn’t burst, and the green stuff no está mu**to!

What a vast metro area below, quite pretty from the air. Oakland, Berkeley and the East Bay just keeps going endlessly north up the right side of the photo. San Francisco peninsula across the bay on the left, the Golden Gate just visible above the skyline, taking you to and from 101 north, wine country maybe :) …..and those Tanker ships are still in the queue….

The Escape from the Texas Polar Vortex 2021 Continues - The Bay area in sight, I’ve read about the Supply Chain Backup but now I Get It!

Guess those (Count’em 22) tankers parked in the Bay have all the stuff we’ve ordered but nowhere to unload it, here’s a Tech article about how this will change, put on your PropellerHead if you want to know more about it:

“A pandemic and weather anomalies have revealed the fragility of the just in time supply chain method, all but assuring that we will see changes.”

The Escape from the Texas Polar Vortex 2021 Continues - Sizzling Phoenix in the rear view mirror and now somewhere over Death Valley down there - eso es caliente!

Imagining which would be a worse fate, sub zero freezing cold or scorching dry heat …
Glad to be on this flight to the West Coast ….

Landing on a baking tarmac, it’s 80 degrees hotter out there than it was in Dallas when we took off 3 hours ago

Goodbye Polar Vortex 2021 - I spotted the very last bit of snow over the mountains of San Carlos Arizona, I had to give it a little wave goodbye and a smile…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you zoom in on the top left mountaintop you can see just a tiny bit of snow, probably somehow holding on to winter, what a dramatic change from ice to sun and all things dry out here on the way to a stop over in Phoenix.

Polar Vortex 2021 - Is that the Texas Motor Speedway or a Giant Polar Ice Camp?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the middle of the Great February Freeze-Out that caused so much misery in Texas, I got a ticket to ride away from this arctic experience for a while. My window seat was a great way to reflect upon the state of things down there below as it changed dramatically over the trip as we continued moving west over different places. Just north of DFW I was shocked to see this huge snow and ice covered place directly below which I realized that it was the Texas Motor Speedway in a deep freeze! If you look at the 2nd photo it shows this gigantic location rocking on a race day with over 100k fans, 20k parking spaces, 1,656 Women’s restrooms and a 1.44 mile track and a lot more!

Polar Vortex 2021 - Escape from DFW Terminal A!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the middle of the Great February Freeze-Out that caused so much misery in Texas, I got a ticket to ride, and a window seat to reflect upon the state of things down there. Despite being closed for pretty much 2 days, it’s remarkable that such a complex operation like DFW Airport can manage to create a few openings in the city arctic lockdown so a few flights could make getaways. Look at the difficult job they’re doing at the airport in this white icy weather, how do these birds fly in this stuff! This flight was going to Northern California, so it was easy to think of sunnier days and pretty golden hour sunsets ahead.
