I want to give a big thank you to all our clients who have supported us over the years. Your kindness and compassion through the closing of this chapter has been the strength we needed to keep going.

With that… Pear & Thorn is officially closed. Photo clients: we are taking down access to photo galleries so please download and archive your photos by the end of the month. Contact if you are interested in raw footage. This account will be archived/deleted at the end of this month as well.

You’ve probably noticed I haven’t been around much. So I wanted to check in and share my heart a little. I don’t like showing my emotions in my business but it’s been unavoidable recently.

In June, I completed two weekends with smashingly amazing weddings (one in Vero at Johns Island and the other in Chicago). I was home for a day when my uncle called to tell me my dad was not well.

I hadn’t seen my father in four years and only spoke with him once in that time. But I could tell from the sound of his voice that I needed to go to Tennessee and fast.

So I went. And he was clearly dying. We spent nearly every hour together until I left. We were able to forgive each other and reach reconciliation.

That was the last time I saw my dad before he passed away July 26th.

I’m in my grief. Holding my children and learning what I can from all of this. What I know for sure is that I need some changes—which I will share next week.

Here are some remnants of his life. I wish there was more. I guess we aways do.

When I do detail shots I always look to see where the light's coming from and what I can use as a natural surface. Many photographers will bring canvas to stage flat-lay photos, but I actually enjoy floors or unusual surfaces.

For instance--this image was designed on the farmhouse table in in Vero Beach. We used the veil to add some whimsical texture to help the deep jewel tones of the invitations really pop.

There is a moment after you first see each other on your wedding day that will be different if you're working with me. We're going to meditate.

I discovered the magic of this exercise during the pandemic. We are all dealing with huge amounts of stress. Your wedding day is one day you should be completely present in the moment. You've already done the work getting here, so it's time to pause and enjoy it.

So I will put the cameras down and ask you to hold hands. You will look into each other's eyes and just sink into your breath. I will remind you why you're here. I will help you remember the best parts of your love.

You will be Held and Seen in a way that you may not have ever noticed until that very moment.

There is no more beautiful way to start a new chapter together, in my mind, than aligning your hearts in this way.

If you were watching my stories last week you may have noticed my scenery was a little different than usual! That’s because we were in Chicago for this epic freaking wedding!!

and and I started planning their wedding early in 2019 and thanks to the pandemic and the sweetest baby on earth, we pushed the big day back to 2022. It happened exactly when and how it was supposed to and it feels so SO good to say WE DID IT!!

We shot these engagement photos in 2018. We explored the city, daydreaming about their wedding day in 2020. Then Covid happened. I can’t believe we have Finally arrived at their wedding day! Can’t wait to see what kind of epicness we will cook up for them tomorrow!! Stay tuned 😘😘
