Can you all chime in and help me think through something? Let’s talk editing. Most photographers will start an edit with a preset, and then customize it from there. My issue is - color matching! Some of the presets, while gorgeous, will change colors quite a bit! Are they pretty? Yes! But, I know you work hard picking out the perfect outfits… I never want to just presume it’s okay to change the colors, even with the best intentions for an amazing finished photo! I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on presets that I decide, after the fact, do not look great. 😂
Some examples attached. Not my work- several are ads for presets. Look at her outfit color in the first example - it starts as soft mauve and ends as bright burnt orange. Also… pay attention to grass/greens and skin tones especially! Presets can change up grass colors and skin tones SO MUCH!
So - question is: If you got photos back and decided the colors were definitely different, would you be upset or offended? Or think it’s just part of the creative process and love the outcome? Do you prefer a true to color preset/look, or would you be happier with a dramatic change?
