Ok last week we were sharing how stoked on Alaska we are... and whelp, yeah we're still stoked on Alaska!

With the crew here in AK working on a fun project for the next 4 weeks, we're looking back on some of our other awesome trips out here. Mark snagged this shot while filming for Teton Gravity Research in the Coast Mountains outside Petersburg, AK.

Sage Cattabriga-Alosa hit this maaaaaaaassive feature and Mark nailed the shot!

Watch some of this action on the old Light The Wick film from TGR.

I know you've heard us say this before, but... How sick is Alaska???

It's THE place for adventure. No matter what you're getting into - skiing, climbing, hiking, fishing, trekking, trail running, dog sledding, bush flying, packrafting, sea kayaking, sailing, whale watching, birding, gold panning, trapping, hunting, foraging, berry picking, bear watching, shed collecting, snowmobiling, stargazing, aurora chasing, biking, caving, working, relaxing - the list goes on and on!

Well, this week we're headed up there for a month of Filming! And we're stoked!

Mark took this shot on one of his numerous skiing trips in AK. It's such an inspiring place to have a camera!

This weekend we're celebrating America's 250th Anniversary!

Purple mountains majesty? Amber waves of grain? The wild and beautiful parks of this country are absolute gems and absolutely worth celebrating. We've had the joy and privilege to capture some amazing moments across our National Parks and here are a few of our favorites.

We hope you get out for some adventures and some family fun, food, and fireworks this weekend!

A few years ago, our DP Scott joined our friend Quinn Brett for her "Alive Day" adventure. Every year, Quinn does some audacious adventure/sufferfest/type2 to celebrate the anniversary of her big fall on El Capitan in 2017. One of her most outlandish ideas was to take the adaptive hand cycle on a Rim to Rim (and maybe even to Rim) crossing of the Grand Canyon. Jason and Ben were totally in with their hand cycles, and a few other folks had the gall to join as well.

Since her accident, Quinn has been very involved in trail access advocacy work, and currently runs Dovetail Trail Consulting. https://na2.hubs.ly/H06kP0D0
Dovetail provides analysis of existing trail systems in recreation areas across the country, and works to expand knowledge within those recreation areas on how to create and maintain more accessible trail systems, as well as be more inclusive in their trail management plans for all types of users.

This trip across the Grand Canyon wasn't an official data collection trip for the park service, but it sure was a wild adventure. The first bridge we came across to get to Phantom Ranch was too narrow for the hand cycles, we had multiple mechanicals, it was hot, and we ended up having an unplanned bivy along the trail before finishing the climb out to the North Rim the following evening.

It ended up being a massive undertaking, and one of the hardest things any of us have ever done, but it was a grand adventure and we'd probably all do it again!

One of the highlights of the trip, the following day, was watching Quinn sit down with the park Superintendent ,discussing ways to continue to develop trails for all types of disability. It was a joy to be a part of the adventure, and to watch Quinn work.

Quinn and Jason are also part of the team at United 2 Fight Paralysis. Jason wrote up an excellent report that's posted on their website.

Read Jason's trip report of the adventure here.

Sometimes the weather aligns just right, and we find a gem like this!

Occasionally, after big storms with temperature inversions, the valley below Castleton Tower fills with fog while the towers poke through.

These days, using modern technology is a huge part of how we shoot. One of our favorite ways to scout locations is by checking live we**ams. Most National Parks and many weather stations across the country have different we**ams set up with near real-time images of some of our favorite spots. For this shot, Scott was checking the we**am up on Bald Mesa and realized that even though the whole area was covered in fog, the towers were poking through! Luckily, by the time he raced out there with the drone, the conditions held up to capture this beauty.

This particular photo was taken years ago, when the best drone camera out there was the tiny little sensor on the original DJI Mavic. With new image processing software like the integrated noise reduction in Lightroom, and Topaz, we've been able to enhance photos like this so they meet more modern printing standards. This has always been one of our favorite shots, but now it's a solid print as well!

Technology has always been a big part of the photographic process, and we truly love to find new ways to capture the beauty of the world around us, and to revisit some of our older photos to give them new life.

Just north of our office in Victor, Idaho lies one of the most pristine rivers in the country.

The Henry's Fork, stretching 127 miles, seeps from a network of springs exiting the Yellowstone Caldera. It flows from the top of the watershed, winding through forests, cutting with massive waterfalls through volcanic basalt and rhyolite, and finally meeting the South Fork of the Snake, where it continues through Idaho as the Snake River.

This river is renowned as one of the best fly-fishing areas in the world, and is also home to the Henry's Fork Foundation.

We're pleased to be spending some time this year filming for the Henry's Fork Foundation, checking out some of the industry-leading river science they're conducting, interviewing some of the key players who have worked to protect this river for the last 40 years, and maintaining its place as legend for anglers, while also providing clean and healthy water for a multi-billion dollar agricultural industry across Idaho.

This week, Scott snapped this photo of anglers fishing the Box Canyon of the Henry's Fork on a beautiful stormy morning.

Yuri Hauswald is coming out of racing retirement tomorrow!

That's right! Tomorrow, at the Unbound Gravel event, our friend and gravel bike mega-athlete Yuri Hauswald is jumping into the starting line of the 200-mile race. This is a grueling course with a massive field of athletes. Yuri plans to start dead last and is raising money for the Lifetime Foundation.

Aside from being an all-around great guy and one of our favorite iFIT trainers, Yuri is a really accomplished gravel rider. In 2015, he won the 200-mile race in a sprint finish against fellow competitor Michael Johnson. It was a wild race! He has since been inducted into the gravel cycling hall of fame.

Tomorrow he's riding to raise money for the Lifetime Foundation, and while he's starting dead last in the race, for every rider he passes, it triggers another donation from those who have pledged to the fundraiser. I know we're going to be watching closely! Usually, we're right on Yuri's tail filming cool trails and fitness content, but tomorrow we're going to be following from afar and cheering him on. Good luck to Yuri and everyone else competing at the Unbound Gravel event this weekend!

We snapped these photos during our National Parks Canada series, and they are burned into our memory as one of the most fun shoots we've been on in the last couple of years!

Kenton Cool has done it again!

Last night, at the highest point of the world, Kenton Cool nabbed his 20th summit of Everest with his longtime partner Dorjee Gyelzen. It's a truly incredible feat! Kenton is one of our longtime friends, and we've been out to the Himalaya with him at least a half dozen times on different projects over the last decade.

Mark Fisher captured this shot of Kenton at the top of Everest in 2018 while shooting with Kenton and Ben Fogle for CNN. Somehow Kenton smuggled a beer all the way to the summit without it freezing or breaking, and shortly after, Heineken used the shot for an ad on Times Square in New York City!

Big congrats on summit number 20, and here's to hoping everyone gets down safe and sound from this week's summit window up on Everest.
