What Steve Durbin has given us by creating the Tunnel Hill 100/50 mile runs is not only the flattest and fastest course anywhere - it is hallowed ground. Where runners from all walks of life can search deep within and face their fears, pain and personal demons head on and come out at the finish line a different version of themselves than when they started.
We met Jeff a few years ago when he finished the Tunnel Hill 100 in memory of his son Myles who ended his life. You might have seen some of his memory stones on course. Last year at the start line, he played the national anthem beautifully on his son's trumpet in his memory. Jeff will again be playing the national anthem for us this year, reminding us all to give tomorrow a chance.
Photographing world and American records is a privilege we will never take for granted.
Photographing moments like these feels like being part of something holy. Exposed. Raw. Vulnerable.
We're forever changed for the better. Thank you for sharing your stories with us.
19 days until we gather together at Tunnel Hill!
