• Motherhood in the summer •
Instead of me waking her up, she wakes me up. We have slower mornings, and bigger breakfasts. We drop off little sis at daycare and workout together. She says, “Mom, look at my muscles!” and it makes me smile every time. We then work on understanding when mommy has to work and when I can play. We have spent time painting, at the pool, reading, and watching movies. She checks her summer calendar each day to understand what the day will bring. I check my calendar to see where I can squeeze in work and where I can put it aside for my girls. Because in the summer, I have the privilege to change my schedule, work less hours, and soak in more moments. I lose income and routine, but gain time for family, travel, and the little moments. It is chaotic and scattered and sometimes feels crazy packing in so many things in these 2 months, but it also is such a gift.
