This isn’t about which one is “better.” It’s about intention.
The iPhone is fast, accessible, and powerful. You can pull it out, tap the screen, and capture a moment exactly when it happens. That matters—especially in a world where timing is everything.
The camera slows me down. It forces decisions. Light, focal length, depth, framing. It makes me think before I press the shutter instead of after. That process changes the outcome.
Both tools can create beautiful images. Both can tell stories. The difference is how far you want to push the image and how much control you want over the final result.
At the end of the day, the gear doesn’t replace vision. It only supports it. The eye behind the lens is still doing the work.
Use what you have. Learn what you want. Upgrade when the tool limits your idea—not your ego.
