Hello February 👋

Winter is almost gone and there's not been a single flake of snow - how disappointing!

Two years ago at the very end of December we got this lovely dusting of snow and I raced out to to capture this gem, and a few others. Nothing like the sun shining on a fresh snowfall at /

The bible quote that's on the February page of this year's calendar feels like an apt reminder right now:

"For I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us" Romans 8v18

If the start of your 2024 hasn't been all that you hoped, or you're walking through a hard time, keep holding on. The warm days are coming, and nothing stays the same always, especially not the hard times 🧡 33 days till we spring forward!!

The 2024 Calendar - In Loving Memory of Arthur Leccese, Jr "Art" November 20, 1932 - September 11, 2023

Thank-you so much for purchasing the 2024 calendar and sharing the Glory of God in the garden with me.

This calendar is dedicated to my neighbor, Art. Art was kind and selfless with a great sense of humor. He rescued and loved a dog named Tina, and had a large garden that brought him so much joy.

Art had a warm and generous heart, and always looked out for us. We’d arrive home to tomatoes on our porch, receive missed calls with voice messages checking in to see how we were doing, and tips on mowing the lawn. We traded jigsaw puzzles and he was always so excited to show me his completed masterpieces! He was a wonderful man.

Our beloved neighbor Art passed away in September 2023, and we were heartbroken. Through an amazing (and providential) series of events, we ended up buying Art’s house: the one across the road from our current rental! This was the family home Art had raised his 4 children in. When we were signing the papers, Art’s daughter said: “My brothers and I are so happy you’re buying this house. We think this is what our father would’ve wanted”.

Art was the definition of care and generosity. A man who loved his garden and used it as an opportunity not just for growth, but for kindness. I had the privilege of taking these photos of Art and Tina in his garden before he passed away.

This was Art: in his beloved garden with his precious dog.

My prayer is that this calendar and the bible verses enclosed will inspire you with the same spirit that drove Art. I pray you'll make this a year of compassion and kindness, that you’ll bloom where God has planted you and go out of your way to share the fruit of His goodness with anyone you can.

Here's a different kind of landscape - dark and moody with a touch of sun flare!

This was the view as we drove into Yosemite National Park through the base of the canyon. I can never resist a good sun flare, and this just felt stunning, cozy, and mystical all at once!

I'm usually attracted to light and bright when it comes to landscapes, but I'm a huge fan of this deeper feel. What do you think?

Check out the color and variety of the 2024 Calendar's images! I'm so happy with how it turned out! (And the fact that it features scenes from Virginia, Canada, and Australia - my favourite places!)

I stopped short of including a recent tour of the and also the epic (DC) because their focus is as much epic architecture as it is Gardens!

I suspect 2025 will feature more of Washington DC…or maybe Colonial Williamsburgn closer to home. Stay tuned!

There's something to be said for the peace and tranquility of twilight on the water. I love the chance to just stop and breathe, to pause the crazy stream of thought that's constantly running through my head and to remember what we're really here for. I'm just sad I don't live closer to this beautiful place, or else it would be a favourite prayer spot I'm sure!

In the 2024 calendar you'll see tiny snapshots of Dumbarton Oaks, Washington DC. Talk about epic gardens!

If you're looking for a gorgeous garden and estate to explore in Georgetown DC, you can't go past Dumbarton Oaks. It was gorgeous, even in the winter, though there was a lot of "imagine what this would look like covered in blossoms or leaves!" It felt like you'd stepped into a scene from Pride & Prejudice

You do have to book tickets in advance, and spots book out fast (prices vary depending on the season, check out their website for more info). Well worth the trip, give yourself plenty of time to explore!

If you've ever been on a roatrip from Adelaide to Melbourne you've probably bumped into this sight of the beautiful in the far distance. If you're looking for a place for a family holiday I'd highly recommend. With everything from waterfalls to mountain top hikes it's the perfect getaway and has some epic photo opportunities too!

Norfolk Botanical Gardens 🪷

Virginia's largest botanical gardens and named #3 BEST Botanical Garden across the United States 2023 - it's fair to say it's an underrated beauty!

I had the pleasure of visiting the garden early spring with my friend and fellow photographer and as you can see from this vast array of photos, I had fun! Macro photography is my favourite, but so is seeing fields of wild zinnias, magical reflective lakes and beautiful landscaping! Well worth the visit if you're in the area.
