Reluctantly, my photography journey is going to take a turn. I have found that for the most part, people aren't all that interested in portraits of themselves or family.
When I retired as an architect in 2013, I began a serious pursuit of photography. I began shooting everything (birds, scenery, abstracts, etc.), but soon found that my real love of photography was making pictures of and for people.
As much as I love making pictures of people, I've found that I don't get enough requests for them. Some of it has to do with the ease of making pictures with mobile phones, and posting on social media.
Over the past 13 years, I have improved my portrait skills, and feel that I have become fairly good at it. But since there are very few people interested in portraits, I can't maintain the skills to stay proficient.
After a lot of thought, I have decided to pursue other genres to satisfy my thirst to make photos. I have enjoyed the ride and am grateful for those who have trusted me to make pictures of them and their families.
