Another whimsical family adventure! Scroll for some details to show the cuteness and detail work that went into creating this image. This is not a brag, just reality, but this one took me 50 hours of photoshop time but was so enjoyable I couldn't do anything else but work on it.

This is another example of a family celebrating their unity but also their individuality in a creative family composite.

A few fun tidbits: 1. The landscape I assembled from stock photos to create a scene that mixed both New Mexico and Wisconsin (their past and present homes). 2. I had to stretch the tandem bicycle so they could all fit while still maintaining a realistic frame. 3. Their older dog is leading the way while the new "puppy" is following behind, learning the ropes, bookending the family. 4. One of their sweet kitties past away since then but gets to live immortalized on their mantle.

The Roberts Family

Two of the questions I ask my family clients are:
1. What do you as a family like to do together?
2. What does each family member like to do/what are they into?

Then, if it works, I try to come up with a group image that incorporates individual interests as well as family passions/hobbies etc.

This family was so much fun to work with and this image was a joy to create, so much fun and color and detail but also creating balance and simplicity in the composition so it doesn't feel like utter chaos.

Another shoot from some years back that I always loved. Laura's energy and s***k radiate out through her photos. I also may or may not have broken a couple wine glasses that shattered into the bowl of cabbage. oops!

Mila the Ice Queen - age 6.5yrs

All grown up from her snow child image when she was 11 months old.

Mila came up with this concept and told me she wanted to be an Ice Queen with snow hares. She got to help pick out her dress and crown and had final pick on her facial expression, which tends to not be my favorite but I want her to feel ownership and pride in her image as it will get to hang large in her room. She also told me that this time she wanted a SUPER fancy frame as the one I selected for her flying alicorn image wasn't fancy enough.

As with many of my photoshoots with my daughter we ran into some challenges, once it was too hot, then too cold on another shoot, this time to keep the crown and dress train to stay put Mila had to stay really, really still and this was such a challenge for her that after maybe five shutter clicks she asked if we were done! No! we are not done dear child. We just spent $150 on costume pieces for an image you wanted me to do for you and by gosh we will make this image amazing so NO! WE ARE NOT DONE. Deep breaths.....deep breaths.... You never know what you will get from each child and often meltdowns happen and thats ok. We stay patient and give them snacks and cuddles and in the end I have never had to reschedule a session.

A couple of my favorite shots of Brian and Kara that weren't chosen for the final image, plus the fun of dog wrangling. It rarely goes as hoped for and often the animal that is expected to be easiest is NOT! Also, as a non dog/animal whisperer I don't necessarily contribute a whole lot besides patience, timing, and some mean photoshop wizardry.
