📸 New on the Journal

Have you ever wondered what separates a fine art print from a standard poster or inexpensive print?

It’s more than just the photograph.

From archival pigment inks and acid-free matting to the care that goes into every print I hand-mat, I believe the materials matter just as much as the image itself.

I recently wrote a new Journal post that takes you behind the scenes and explains what makes a fine art print something that can be enjoyed for decades.

Whether you’re a collector, a fellow photographer, or simply curious about the process, I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read it.

From My Studio to Your Walls

One of my favorite parts of photography is seeing an image become finished artwork.

Each piece is professionally printed on archival paper, matted, framed, signed, and arrives ready to hang—created to be enjoyed for years to come.

Here are just a few of the framed Long Island photographs currently available from my studio. Many of these haven’t made it onto my website yet, so if one catches your eye—or you’re looking for a favorite Long Island location—I’d be happy to show you what’s available.

📍 Local pickup in Wading River is available, and shipping is always an option.

Which one would you hang in your home?

The Brooklyn Bridge has connected New Yorkers for more than 140 years. Long after the crowds are gone, the city still has a way of slowing you down—if you take a moment to look.

Perspective changes everything.

Most people see an old tree stump.

I saw the remains of a giant that once stood among these pines.

Sometimes the most interesting photographs aren’t found by traveling farther—they’re found by looking at familiar things from a different angle.

What’s something ordinary you’ve looked at differently lately?

Lavender season is here.

The English lavender is now in bloom, filling the fields with color, fragrance, and the steady hum of busy bees.

Every summer I make a visit to photograph the lavender fields. While the purple rows are beautiful on their own, it’s often the small details—the bees, the light, and the textures—that keep drawing me back year after year.

Did you know that English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has been cultivated for centuries and is known for both its fragrance and its ability to attract pollinators?

I’ll be heading back to the fields soon and look forward to sharing this year’s images.

In the meantime, I’ve put together a short Journal entry celebrating the start of lavender season.

Most people only see the finished photograph.

What they don’t see is everything that happens after the print arrives from the lab.

Before a matted print leaves my studio, it’s carefully inspected, hand-matted, signed, stamped on the rear of the print, and marked with image information on the back of the mat. These are small details that most people will never see, but they’re an important part of how I present my work.

In a world where so much is automated, I still enjoy being involved in the final steps of the process.

I recently wrote a journal entry about why I continue to hand-mat my prints and why craftsmanship still matters to me as a photographer.
