Okay so. I started a 30-day photo challenge. And then wedding season started. And then I blinked and it was day 30. HA!
In true Annelise fashion, I crammed all 7 remaining prompts into one carousel and I am choosing to call it intentional.
But genuinely? Watching you all show up every single day this month made my whole heart happy. Seeing what each of you noticed, how you saw light differently, what you chose to point your camera at... that’s the whole reason I do this. Art really does keep us from losing our minds completely. Community even more so. You all saved me this month and you didn’t even know it.
Here’s a quick breakdown of each prompt so you can try them yourself!
Water Splash: Use a fast shutter speed (1/700+) and a burst mode to freeze the moment. Shoutout to and yet again for this image that once went viral, and I had to turn off all the comments because people are insane.
Slow Shutter with Flash: Set a slow shutter (1/15 or slower) with your flash on rear curtain sync to get motion blur AND a sharp subject. is beyond artistic, and I love working with her!
Panning: Match your camera movement to a moving subject at a slow shutter (try 1/30) for a sharp subject with a blurred background. Thanks for modeling!
Macro: Get close, use a wide aperture, and if you don’t have a macro lens, a close-up filter or extension tubes will get you there. One out of every three mouthful of food depends on bees!
Negative Space: Find a clean, simple background and put your subject way off to one side. Resist the urge to fill the frame. Enjoy this image of
Golden Hour: Go outside 30 minutes before sunset. That’s it. The light does most the work.
Favorite Shot of the Month: Mine is the one I almost didn’t take. As always. From Abby and Blake’s Texas wedding this month!
Thank you for every tag, every comment, every heart. You are the muse.
