50 degrees and above and I’m ready to play outside all day again! Of course by play I mean shoot, ya know respectfully frolick through fields of daffodils and tulips and twirl under cherry blossom trees despite major allergies…..whose with me????

Hate to burst your bubble but the sun ain’t setting any earlier! Parents I am talking to y’all! We all know it’s hard adjusting to bedtime here in the as the sun sets after most of our kids bedtimes now! That can really play a big factor into your session.
Some tips for summer sessions:

1) schedule them for the beginning of summer because the end of summer has an almost 10pm sunset and wildfires

2) if your little naps def do that before hand it’ll be worth them being up a little later after…in a year when you look back at your images you WON’T think man he was rough the next day …or maybe you will but you’ll think it WAS worth it for sure either way

3) Don’t give them sugar or sweets that they aren’t used to having to keep them awake it could have the opposite effect and tantrums during session

4) Hype them up “Tomorrow we are gonna get to stay up as late as the sun? Do you think you can do that, can you stay up later than the sun?! And tell them how they’ll get to skip rocks splash you etc

5) and if you want that dreamy light or are due for family pictures updated but don’t think you guys can handle staying up that late book your family sessions in the spring before May or a fall morning where sunrise is a little later!

There is no way that anyone could say dogs aren’t family too if they would have seen these four together!!
As I was editing the gallery I was legit getting those same warm fuzzy feelings you get when you see the way a couple looks at each-other or their kids when they were with their dogs!

This was a really great session for me because of how this family found me and scheduled spontaneously for a session while visiting Whidbey!

I feel so blessed to be picked again and again to make memories and friends all over.

I feel blessed that I don’t let fear rule me and put myself out there and that I am able to believe in myself daily even when comparison sets in it doesn’t stay long
