I’ve shared this many times but only in the hopes that you’ll never make the same mistake I made. One of my biggest regrets in my motherhood journey was not doing a maternity session for any of my pregnancies. With my first pregnancy it just wasn’t really a thing yet and with my second, I was caught in a web between grief, anxiety and pregnancy illness that robbed me from truly enjoying that part of my motherhood journey. I wish I had image like these to share with my children rather than the ever quality diminishing images I have on my cell phone.

Don’t make the same mistake I made. Create memories of this tender time for yourself but most importantly for them. Life’s greatest miracle is being able to carry life within you.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had the honor of photographing this family. It’s always effortless and always the best time. I’ve worked with them so much that I’ve been able to tap into each pf their personalities and know exactly what makes them giggle and laugh. After our session, I received the most heartfelt message from this mama that reminds me why I love my job so much. Enjoy a long weekend with your families & make some memories!

They say when one soul leaves this physical world, a new soul is brought into the world. May that be to bring sunshine in moments of despair or to bring us peace is left to the unknown. I want to think that it is a little bit of both. After a tremendous family loss, what I do know is that this baby is being welcomed by the best parents, by the silliest of siblings, being watched over by a heavenly angel. I wanna say he got the last laugh thinking you were done with TWO….

I’ll let you in on a little secret…. I used to dislike photographing teens. Perhaps I’d let my head go back to that awkward tween stage of my own that made me feel the furthest from my true self. It was almost as if I was that same awkward teen behind my lens, the blind leading the blind if you will. What I was missing most was connection between me & my subject. Finding common ground and making them feel safe and seen behind my camera. Meeting them half way and not trying too hard. Building confidence when it’s lacking or peeling back the layers of a child’s true personality. It’s not easy to do and it takes practice but when you can connect, you can really capture the essence of who they truly are.

A HOMETOWN session and a stop at my favorite Meadowlark Drive-Thru Dairy because I love documenting my families in their favorite places and places that feel like HOME to them. When your kids grow up, will you have pictures of them where they grew up?? It really made me think of wanting a session just like this for my own family in our own hometown in places we frequent and feel like home to us. This was such a fun session to shoot. If you’re interested in a unique session because the grassy fields aren’t your thing, let’s come up with something together that really feels like HOME and true for your own family. I am in FULL SWING again and busy season is HERE! I’ve been photographing this family since that little girl you see in these pictures was in her mama’s belly. I also went to high school with her mama. I swear she is like fine w**e. She looks more and more beautiful with age and I’m so lucky to know her.

I have a firm belief that you’re never in the right place at the right time by coincidence. The universe puts you where you’re needed.

I was walking back up from scouting a location I have been to numerous times for a new client I was about to meet and as I was coming back up the cliff side I saw a gentleman drop down to one knee proposing to his lady. Of course my instinct with my camera in hand was to capture it. So to these two people I’ve never met in the real world, I wish you a lifetime of happiness & more photographs of your beautiful life together by strangers you’ve never met. 😉 You happen to be there at the right time at the right place. Congratulations! 💕
