East Bay Images Photography-Butch Lombardi East Bay Images Photography is the name I chose for my photography business. It's representative of the area I live in-The East Bay of Rhode Island.

A lot of my photography originates here but I also travel throughout New England and beyond. I started this page so I could showcase all of my photography. While I shoot extensively in New England I do get out of the area. Because the sites I frequent are restricted to photos related to New England I needed a place where I can put up everything I shoot. While they are on my website and Fine Art America, I wanted more lattitude here on facebook and this page will afford me that.

Picked up the cases of calendars from TAP Printing late yesterday. Dropped off half a case at Delekta's so they are available there now. Will be stopping at Johnson's also to drop off half a case there.

Just picked up several cases of my 2027 East Bay Calendar. As of 3:30pm today Delekta's has them in stock.

The fall migration is not as intense as the spring migration. The instinct to breed is absent in the fall migration so birds are more low key and food is the main priority. The Ruddy Turnstone's breeding grounds are among the farthest north of any species. They'll stop by here on their way south to feed. They're method of feeding is in their name-turning over stones along the water's edge looking for any critter underneath. This is a male Ruddy Turnstone

About 30 years ago we got a butterfly bush. We planted it at the end of our deck. Each summer it attracts bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, etc. Over the last few years one interesting visitor has been showing up regularly- Hummingbird moths. They feed similarly to hummingbirds-hovering while collecting pollen. Unlike hummingbirds they have a probiscis that they can extend from a coil to straight out which you can see in both pictures. They're called Clearwing as their wings are transparent.. You might mistake them for bees if you see one. I call them flying lobsters because that's what they look like to me.

American Redstart , Scarlet Tanager. The activity is beginning to wind down. Many birds are nesting now and some are still moving north. The woods have become quieter in the last week or so..

I said it before, there's always a white whale when I go out to shoot. The Indigo Bunting is one. I was walking a trail when Merlin picked up an Indigo Bunting. I started to listen and sure enough there was one singing-and another answering. One was in a thicket, which was possibly a nest. The male landed in a tree and then came down to some lower bushes before he flew off. I managed a few shots in difficult lighting. Indigo buntings are actually black. "Indigo Buntings have no blue pigment; they are actually black, but the diffraction of light through the structure of the feathers makes them appear blue". Also got a Wood Thrush and a Willow Flycatcher.

We went to our grandson's baseball game earlier in the week. It was a warm day so I said to Cyndy, let's stop at a preserve near the field. The preserve had a lot of tall pines. I figured there would be migrating birds in the pines and along the pond. We walked about 10 minutes when we heard a pine warbler. I was able to get a few pictures before we headed over to the ball field.
