Greetings once again!
Today, I have for you an aerial observation of the demolition of the former Copperweld Steel Corporation site in Warren Township, Ohio.
This site has stood for my entire lifetime, but now is being systematically dissected in the hopes it can be redeveloped. That is a long way off as there has been some very dubious activity performed on the property in the past.
Copperweld had a unique process to coat alloys with copper for use in the electronics industry.
Around the 1970's, overseas competition and free trade agreements sharply killed this industry as other countries were able to dump products at far cheaper prices than these mills could produce at home.
Copperweld, by all accounts, was run pretty well for most of its history. Major reinvestments were made to the faciltities since it was purchased around 1939, even up until it filed for bankruptcy after building a new melt shop it was never able to use.
Enjoy the history and the views!!
Thanks for watching!!
