My memory cards have been full lately.

They’ve been full of growing bellies, busy toddlers, sweet families, tiny details, beloved pets, milestone moments, and people stepping into new seasons of life.

And honestly? This is exactly the kind of work I want more of in front of my camera.

Maternity. Family. Motherhood. Milestones. Seniors. Pets. Branding. Bo***ir.

The sessions that feel personal. The ones that mean something.

I’m booking studio and outdoor sessions in Warrenville and surrounding areas, and I would love to keep adding more of this to my calendar.

So if you’ve been thinking about scheduling photos, this is your little nudge.

Send me a message and we can start planning something that feels like you.

🎉 This was a fun little surprise. Facebook recognized me as a consistent post creator this week!🎉

I know it’s just a small little thing, but it made me smile.

Because consistency is something I’ve been working on.

Not just posting to post.
Not just showing up when I have something to sell.
Not just trying to keep up with an algorithm.

But learning how to share more of what I’m building, what I care about, and the heart behind BIK Photography.

For me, consistency means continuing to show up even when I’m still figuring things out.

For my clients, I hope it means you can see that I’m here, I’m invested, and I’m building something you can trust.

Every comment, share, booking, review, and kind word helps more than you probably realize.

So thank you for being here and following along. 🫶

If you’ve ever worked with me, don’t be shy — I would be so grateful if you took a minute to leave a few kind words.

A small review goes a long way for a small business like mine. It helps new families, couples, and clients feel more confident reaching out, and it helps my work be seen by the people who are looking for exactly this kind of photography.

And don’t be surprised if you get a little message from me with a gentle nudge to leave one. I promise it’s not pressure — just me learning to ask for the support that helps BIK Photography continue to grow.

Thank you for being here, cheering me on, booking sessions, sharing my work, and trusting me with the moments that matter to you.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the idea of “niching down.”

In photography, there’s a lot of pressure to pick one thing.

Family.
Maternity.
Newborn.
Branding.
Bo***ir.
Weddings.
Minis.

And I get why that makes sense. I really do.

But I don’t think my brain works best when I’m trying to put everything I love into one tiny box.

Because I don’t think I’m only drawn to one type of session.

I’m drawn to connection.

The season of life you’re in.
The story you’re building.
The people you love.
The version of yourself you’re becoming.
The little details you might not even realize you’ll want to remember later.

Sometimes that looks like maternity photos before everything changes.

Sometimes it looks like a family session with kids running around, laughing, climbing on you, and being fully themselves.

Sometimes it looks like motherhood, pets, self-love, a new beginning, a senior year, a relationship, your business, or just wanting to see yourself in a way that feels real.

That’s the part I keep coming back to.

Not perfectly posed.
Not copied and pasted.
Not the same session over and over again.

Just real life, thoughtfully photographed.

I think that’s my niche. 🫶🌻

Wishing you a peaceful Memorial Day.

Today, we remember and honor those who have lost their lives while serving our country, and we hold space for the families who carry that loss with them.

I hope today also gives you a little time to slow down, be with the people you love, and notice the simple things around you.

I’ll be spending part of the day in my garden, enjoying the plants, the quiet, and the little bits of beauty that are easy to rush past.

I’m also taking the rest of the holiday weekend away from messages, so if you’ve reached out, I’m not ignoring you. I’ll be responding again on Tuesday.

A little holiday weekend joy from my garden.

The rain kept me from doing much gardening this morning, but it gave me something better for a moment.

My husband and I were able to sit together early this morning, just the two of us, watching the rain outside.

Then he made breakfast for the kids, and after that, I slipped back outside to the backyard to check on our plants.

That’s when I saw one of my favorite creatures from the garden: a hummingbird.

Of course, I had to try to grab my camera before he zipped away.

My entire life, I don’t remember ever seeing a hummingbird up close until I started putting feeders out several years ago. I loved seeing them come around, but the feeders got dirty so quickly, and I worried about keeping them clean enough and full enough for the tiny visitors.

So over the last few years, I’ve been trying to up my game in the garden and bring them in more naturally.

Coral honeysuckle has become one of my favorites because it blooms for so much of the season, and later in the summer, the bee balm brings them in too. I planted them right outside my window, and now these tiny little birds are in our yard constantly, zipping in and out like they belong here.

It’s such a simple thing, but it brings me so much joy, and now my kids get excited to see them too!

I hope you get a little time this weekend to slow down and enjoy something small and beautiful too.

I’ll be taking the rest of the holiday weekend to be with my family and enjoy some time outside, so I’ll be responding to messages again on Tuesday.

Meet Fuego 🔥

Tiny body. Big personality. Even bigger heart.
Fuego is a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix with the funniest little spirit. He is affectionate, smart, loyal, playful, curious, and fully convinced he belongs right next to his person.

He was originally found tied outside overnight at a fire station, and even with that heartbreaking start, he has not lost his joy. He is sweet, eager to please, food motivated, potty trained, and leash trained — basically the perfect little best friend for someone who wants a loyal companion.

He loves people, gets along well with other dogs, cats, and kids, and he would do best in a home where he gets plenty of attention and love.

Also, yes… he understood the assignment for his photos.

Fuego is available for adoption through 4 Stray Paws Ltd

Let’s help this little guy find his person. ❤️

This session felt really special.

I first photographed this little guy when he was turning one, and now I got to welcome him back into my studio as he turns three.

There is something so meaningful about repeat clients. Of course I love meeting new families, but getting to continue documenting the same family through different chapters of life feels like such a gift.

And honestly, this is one of the reasons I always encourage people to stick with a photographer they connect with.

Your kids start to feel more comfortable. They know what to expect. You don’t have to start over every time with someone new. And over time, your photographer learns your family, your style, what matters to you, and what you’re hoping to walk away with.

This was also my first setup in the main studio space, so having a familiar family there made it feel even more special.

So grateful for the families who keep trusting me with their memories, year after year. 🙏🫶
