In the quiet of my seeking, I came to you, a refuge sought,
To ease the turmoil, the tempest within, battles I've tirelessly fought.
My soul, a vessel battered, by life's relentless quest,
Sought solace in your haven, a momentary rest.
Yet, what I found in seeking, was not the balm I yearned,
But a tally of absences, a reminder of how I'd turned.
I wage wars on every frontier, a relentless, endless fight,
And yet, I find another, in your shadow, without light.
When will my reinforcements come? My spirit wanes, grows dim,
I'm a fortress besieged, walls cracking at the brim.
A man, they say, is concrete, steadfast, strong, and bold,
But without you, my rebar, my resolve begins to fold.
Where is my companion? My strength when days grow dark?
I've cried alone in silence, where no one hears the mark.
Tears have been my solace, in solitude I've found,
A coldness overtaking, a silence so profound.
Depression, a silent hunter, in shadows, it does dwell,
But as the head, the leader, it's a truth I cannot tell.
To show a crack, a weakness, in this armor I wear tight,
Is to invite the specter of demise into the night.
Yet, in this candid verse, a truth I wish to share,
Strength is found in unity, in the vulnerability we dare.
For even kings need comfort, and warriors need a rest,
In the arms of their beloved, in the heart they know best.
So, I stand before you, my plea is simple, true,
I need you now, more than ever, to help me make it through.
Not as my foe, nor my burden, but as my steadfast guide,
Together, overcoming, with love as our tide.
Let not this cry go unanswered, let not this bond break,
For in this unity, a fortress we will make.
A man may be the concrete, in life's relentless war,
But without his rebar, he can't endure much more.
