We were laughing and talking over drinks - but he kept getting up and it seemed as if he were sick, but I didn't think anything of it.” C: “After excusing myself from our table several times to summon up the courage to move beyond my nerves, I walked to our room in and texted Sharon instructions to join me.” S: “He opens the door - there's music, candlelight and his 1000 watt smile. ( 3/5) "As a new couple, Clarence and I were on our way to a small jazz festival across the river from DC in in the summer of 2010 when he handed me his phone saying, “my dad wants to say hi.” Our conversation unfolded with ease as if we’d known each other for years. He said he’d heard a lot about me and was excited to know there might one day be a singer in the family. I was surprised to hear him say that so effortlessly – and so soon. ( 2/5) “For our first date Clarence took me to . It was my first time there and I remember being pleasantly surprised at how easily our conversation flowed. Transitioning from friends into romance can be tricky, or even awkward, but that was never the case for us. I remember laughing a lot, and grooving to the music while we ate. After dinner we went to play pool at . I’m not one for pool, but I got a few lucky shots in! Our competitive spirits definitely came out. We had reservations after at for dessert and cocktails. I was really impressed by him, he had planned everything so perfectly. In a party of a thousand faces we passed each other, locking eyes first, and then smiled. He hugged me and then without missing a beat took my hand, spun me around, and said, "check you out girl!! Kristy wins the “Most Adventurous Bride Award” for scaling the stone blocks of the breakwater on the shore of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee.

She and Patrick were rewarded for their efforts as the sailing vessel Denis Sullivan sailed by in the background. The ship is a modern reproduction of a 19th century Great Lakes schooner and serves as the state’s official flagship and a floating classroom for freshwater education programs.
