Mother son dances, whether spontaneous or planned, have always felt emotional to photograph; but after having my twin boys, they hold an entirely different weight for me now. Katie and Symeon’s day began at the Willard InterContinental and moved through some of DC’s most iconic locations; creating a balance of classic architecture and quiet, natural light.

The scale of the Cathedral and the simplicity of the Jefferson Memorial lend themselves to an editorial, timeless approach; allowing both the setting and the moments to stand on their own.
