Woodbridge is a port and market town in the East Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. It is 8 miles (13 km) up the River Deben from the sea. It lies 7 miles (11 km) north-east of Ipswich and forms part of the wider Ipswich built-up area. The town is close to some major archaeological sites of the Anglo-Saxon period, including the Sutton Hoo burial ship, and had 35 households at the time of the Domesday Book of 1086. It is well known for its boating harbour and tide mill, on the edge of the Suffolk Coast and Heath Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Several festivals are held. As a "gem in Suffolk's crown",it has been named the best place to live in the East of England.

Sutton Heath Ancient Woodland.

Sutton and Hollesley Heaths is a 483.3 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-east of Woodbridge in Suffolk. Most of the site is managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust as Sutton and Hollesley Commons. It is part of the Sandlings Special Protection Area under the European Union Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds, and the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These remnants of the formerly extensive sandy heaths of the Suffolk coast consist of dry grass and heather heathland, together with areas of bracken, scrub and pine and birch woodland. Breeding birds include long-eared owls, and hen harriers roost there in the winter.

Wilford Bridge
Close to Woodbridge this landmark is on the estuary of the Deben river on the Deben Peninsula. On one side of Wilford Bridge is marshes covered in river reeds spread throughout the river. On the other side is views of Woodbridge Marina (not shown) and the Woodbridge community. Situated on the left bank footpath is what appear to be a sunken boat. Due to the close proximity to the sea this river is tidal and the left bank footpath can be impassable.
