We’re not all on the same level, and we’re not supposed to be.

Different timing. Different opportunities. Different struggles. Different paths.

Stop measuring your chapter against someone else’s highlight reel. Some people started before you. Some had help you didn’t have. Some are still figuring out things you’ve already overcome.

Your only job is to keep going.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how fast time moves.

It’s strange how you can spend so much of your life waiting for the next thing. The next opportunity. The next trip. The next accomplishment. The next version of yourself. Then one day you look back and realize that some of the moments you were rushing through are the exact moments you wish you could return to.

These sunsets in Hawaii feel different to me now.

At the time, it was just another evening. Another drive. Another beautiful view I probably stopped to photograph before continuing with whatever I had planned next. I don’t think I fully understood that one day I would look at these photos and miss not only the place, but the person I was when I took them.

That’s the part about nostalgia that gets me.

Sometimes you don’t actually want to go back. You just want five minutes with an old version of your life. You want to stand in that exact place again, feel that same air, hear the same sounds, and experience it without knowing everything that comes after.

Life changes quietly.

People change. Relationships change. Dreams change. Places that once felt normal become memories. And somehow years that once felt impossibly far away become years you’re looking back on.

Time really does fly.

Maybe that’s why sunsets have always meant so much to me. They’re beautiful because they don’t stay. You can watch one disappear right in front of you and there’s absolutely nothing you can do to slow it down.

Life feels a lot like that lately.

So this Sunday, I’m reminding myself to be here a little more. To stop treating today like it’s simply the hallway to tomorrow. To take the picture, make the call, take the trip, sit a little longer, tell people I love them, and appreciate the ordinary days too.

Because one day, without realizing it, today will become one of those days I miss.

And maybe these photos aren’t really making me miss Hawaii.

Maybe they’re reminding me how much life has already happened.

I’ve been sitting on so many moments from Hawai‘i. Think it’s finally time I start sharing the unreleased.
