2022 was a great year. I have the pleasure of being part of the wedding day of many great and fun couples. There was a lot of laughter, some great locations and great photos. I wish them all the happiness in the world and I look forward to what 2023 has to offer.

I was hired to be a second shooter for Shayne and Bien’s wedding. What that means for the most part is that I handle Bien and the guys getting ready, then get alternate angles from the lead photographer.

My day started at the Ga***rd Hotel in Oxon Hill, MD where I met up with Bien and the guys. The primary focus here is to get photos of the guys getting ready, which includes photos of watches, shoes, cufflinks. Sometimes, the guys will have funny or special socks, which always tell a story of their friendship. Once the guys were ready, we headed down to the National Harbor to take some photos. I always get multiple group shots, some of just the groom and some of the groom and each of his groomsmen individually.

Shayne and Bien were married at Church of Christ in Temple Hills, MD. It was a nice church and they had a large choir singing for them throughout the service. Their traditions have sponsors who help with the planning of the wedding day, so they were all honored during the service. Multiple people read from the bible and gave speeches.

From there, it was off to Springfield Golf and Country Club in Springfield, VA for the reception. While the lead photographer took the wedding party off for photos, I captured what we call details; place settings, decorations, the cake, etc. With any extra time before the reception starts, I photograph guests who have arrived.

My day ended fairly early, after the introductions and cake cutting. Overall, it was a quick, but fun day that saw another couple who was in love, tie the knot. I wish Shayne and Bien all the best.
