Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Janet Hubka, CEO of ilus art, for creating the perfect gift for our 2022 Scientist of the Year Dr. Ardem Patapoutian; namely, a microscopic image of the Piezo1 ion channel protein that helps cells to sense touch, the focus of his work at Scripps Research for the past 20 years, which led to his Nobel Prize! 👏👏

So pleased to see astronaut Dr. Jessica Meir is honored as a 2020 Inductee to the ARCS Alumni Hall of Fame...a wonderful accolade to an amazing scientist! Hope to meet her someday so I can share it with the students in ilus Art’s K-12 STEAM education lectures.

These are some of the pics from the STREAM Fest put on by the Solana Beach School District (SBSD) and the Solana Beach Schools Foundation...impressed with the number of families that showed up and were getting involved with their children. Nothing better than to demonstrate to their children how important STEM and STREAM activities will help them in high school, college and beyond! So great seeing another dear friend Executive Director Patti Malmuth. Their entire Team from the Foundation came over and personally introduced themselves and said hello to Mark and me.

One of the things we like to share with the students in our K-12 STEAM education talks are pictures we receive from NASA and CASIS and meeting astronauts in our STEM journey. Here we are meeting with Astronaut Dr. Kate Rubins when she was in San Diego at the Convention Center speaking about research on the ISS.

Cannot believe it has been over 2 years since we spoke at in San Diego. Great group of students and amazing Team! March 28, 2017 Founder Christopher Yanov and Jordan Harrison were fantastic. was invited to speak at by two different sponsors, so obliged and gave her talk lecture called "The Art of Science: Taking Art to the Cellular Level" letting students see the intersection of science & art. Broaden their vision of what they might study in college.
