I went to Joshua Tree National Park last night to capture the Milky Way. Unfortunately, the light pollution from the Palm Springs Basin did not help me much. On the plus side, the sunset produced some good color about a 30 minutes after the sun went down.

A must-see destination, Lime Kiln Point State Park is located on San Juan Island, Washington. The park is located on the west side of San Juan Island and is easily accessible by car or bike from Friday Harbor. The park is spread over 41 acres and is home to the historic Lime Kiln Lighthouse, a rocky shoreline, and a 19th-century lime kiln.

The park is considered a fantastic whale-watching spot. Visitors can spot orcas, humpback whales, minke whales, and porpoises from the park’s rocky bluff. The best time to visit the park for whale watching is between May and September, with peak times dependent on the local water's salmon run.
