From below, the Vultee BT-13 Valiant shows exactly what it was built for: a sturdy, no-nonsense step between primary instruction and advanced military flying.

The BT-13 was one of the most widely used U.S. basic trainers of World War II. Its fixed gear, tandem cockpit, flaps, controllable-pitch propeller, and radial engine introduced student pilots to the systems and discipline required for more advanced aircraft.

Two names. One legendary airframe. One shared purpose.

The North American T-6 Texan and RCAF Harvard Mk. IV fly together in formation—American and Canadian designations for an aircraft family that trained generations of military pilots. The markings may differ, but the sound, silhouette, and legacy remain unmistakable.

A Royal Canadian Air Force Harvard Mk. IV banking through the smoke—built for the demanding work of turning students into capable military pilots.

Known in U.S. service as the T-6 Texan, the Harvard was a defining advanced trainer for the RCAF and the wider Commonwealth during the Second World War. Its tandem cockpit, radial engine, and honest handling prepared thousands of aircrew for what came next.

Black and white lets the details take center stage: the polished airframe, RCAF markings, sharp geometry of the wings, and the trail of smoke behind a living piece of aviation history.

Color often draws the eye first—but black and white reveals what might otherwise be missed: the veining in each petal, the intricate center, and the contrast between a fresh bloom and the remnants of the ones before it.

A North American T-6 Texan cutting cleanly across the sky—an aircraft that helped turn students into military aviators. Known as the “Pilot Maker,” the Texan’s unmistakable radial-engine profile and tandem cockpit remain an enduring piece of aviation history.

Black and white strips the scene back to form, metal, motion, and the unmistakable silhouette of a classic warbird.

A quiet kind of beauty—Winnipeg Parks roses in black and white, where every fold, shadow, and softened edge tells its own story.

Nature does not need color to be dramatic.
