I walked away from this family shoot loving my job.
I just KNEW we captured some awesome shots. I was confident not because the outfits were just right (even though they were) or because the location was something exceptional (though it was beautiful), but because this sweet family genuinely laughed and played and enjoyed each other during our time together.
They let their guard down. They let me in. They had fun together! There were scrunchy-nosed smiles and real laughter. There was silliness and joking and sweet little moments. And because they let me in, I was able to capture all of that.
Everyone loves a good family photo where everyone is looking at the camera and the hair and the outfits and the smiles are all just right. I get it, I do. I like having a couple of those, too. But my FAVORITE photos are never the posed ones. My favorite photos are the ones where you feel the love between the people in the photograph. The real laughter and big, genuine smiles, the quiet in-between moments, the tiny little glances...those are my favorites.
So, take note. If you choose me for your family shoot, we're going to PLAY! There will be tickling and teasing and running and racing and lots of laughter. And you can be confident I'll be there capturing it all.
