Lately, people have been asking me a lot about AI, and whether I fear it will make real photography obsolete.

Ah, friends, do not fear!

As a portrait photographer, I don't sell just an image, I sell the experience, the feeling, the memory. Could I give a prompt to ChatGPT or Claude and ask for a portrait of a girl wearing a headpiece made of lilies? Sure! But what experience would I have? What memory would I create?

With this project, I will always remember how I stopped by the side of the road and picked lilies on my way home from the cottage, how I burned my fingers with hot glue while putting together the base for the floral crown, how beautiful Vika giggled while struggling to balance that heavy, bulky crown on her head, how the crown broke in half, and how that turned out to be the best thing because the smaller crown looked even better. I'll remember how I used my skills to transform the portrait into a work of art that will always remind me of this wonderful experience.

So, would you rather type a prompt and wait, or live, enjoy, create, and feel?

I love AI, but some things will never be replaced.
