What a surprise to find on my newsfeed this evening! Thanks so much Allison for those kind words!

It doesn’t seem like my dear friend Lacey has been campaigning enough for herself so I’m going to do it for her 😉

Lacey is running for the American Maine-Anjou Association Board of Directors and if you’re a member of the association, it would unequivocally be in your best interest to consider her.

Not only is she smart, kind, hard working and fiercely loyal, but she has a boatload of real world experience in both the production side and junior show side of the industry. (Add photography, marketing & general badassery as cherries on top of the cake 🎂.)

I don’t know the intimate details of what the AMAA is trying to accomplish in coming years. But, with Lacey on the leadership team, NOTHING will be left unchecked off that list at the end of her term.

🗳️ There are 3️⃣ days left for members of the Maine Association to print out and send in your ballots voting for your next Board of Directors. Deadline is September 18th to be postmarked. Link is in comments.

No fluff. No puff. Just pasture.

Taking pasture pictures sounds simple. It isn’t.

The cattle have to be in the right place. The light has to be right. The grass has to be the right height. And cattle, of course, have absolutely no interest in your plan.

It takes hours. Days. Weeks. It’s so time consuming that Caffee Ranch is the only set I photograph this way every single year.

But the result is something you can’t recreate in a picture pen.
Calves walking alongside their mothers. Cows standing in the pasture they actually work in. Video that shows the pair together. No halters. No baths. No fluff or puff.

Just cattle, raw and natural.

And maybe that’s why these will always be some of my iconic images I take.

You’re not creating the moment. You’re waiting long enough to capture it.

One of the most beautiful things a woman can do is celebrate another woman's success. You never know how many fears, setbacks and sleepless nights she had to over come to get there. 🫶🏼

Is cleanup necessary? You tell me.

No clipping. No cleanup. No photoshop. She was standing in the pasture, manure and all — so I took the picture.

She’s one of the great Caffee Ranch cows that line these hills, and her daughter sells September 24.

That’s the beauty of this sale — every mama cow can be seen right alongside her calf.

Sometimes good photography is simply knowing when what’s in front of you is already worth photographing.

YES, I'M RUNNING!

I'm excited to be a candidate for the American Maine-Anjou Association Board of Directors.

I've been fortunate to see this breed from several different angles—Junior Board member, exhibitor, breeder, marketer, and selling Maine genetics into seedstock and commercial herds.

Last year, Caffee Ranch marketed 62 Maine-Anjou bulls and 40 Maine-Anjou females, while continuing to stay active in the show ring and support the Junior National.

I believe the Maine-Anjou breed is in one of the strongest positions it's been in for a long time, with growth on both the seedstock and commercial sides. I'd love the opportunity to help keep that momentum going.

This breed has given me lifelong friendships, incredible opportunities, and a career I truly love. Now I'd like the opportunity to give back.
