Often the goal of a photo session isn't just to create a beautiful portrait...sometimes the real question is: How do we tell the bigger story?

That was exactly the goal when I photographed Leona for her Northern Kettle feature with Saron Sophia - Nature based wellness

She wanted to share the heart behind the nonprofit she started with her late brother, while making sure the spotlight stayed on the work and the people it serves — not just on her.

So we spent our time showing Leona in action and giving a glimpse into the experiences Saron Sophia helps create with its nonprofit partners.

And I have to say, I left both of our sessions feeling a little more refreshed myself. 🌿 There is something special about the way Leona creates opportunities for people to slow down, connect with nature and others, and simply breathe.

I’m working on a photography project that means a lot to me, and I’m looking for families who might want to be part of it. ❤️

This December, I’ll be displaying a collection of simple black-and-white portraits at The Hub in West Bend featuring children who happen to live with disabilities or disorders.

I want these portraits to be simple and honest—mostly head-and-shoulders, with a white backdrop and very little distraction—so that their personalities can come through.

A diagnosis is an important part of a child’s story, but it is never the whole story. I want this project to celebrate the whole child while also honoring the families who work so hard to raise awareness, educate others, and advocate for their children.

I’m looking for families who would be interested in having their child participate. Images will be taken in the months of September and October I’ll talk with each family beforehand about the project, their child, and what would make the experience comfortable for them. There is no cost to participate.

I’m also inviting the families who participate to help choose the final name of the exhibition. I have a few ideas in mind, but I’d love for the families who are part of it to have a voice in what we ultimately call it.

Had a great start to the week photographing 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲 for their feature in Tosa Living! 🎸

These guys are getting a lot of well-deserved attention right now, and after spending some time with them, I can see why. They're known for their high-energy live shows and recently released their debut album, 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸.

We had a lot of fun creating images for their feature.

There is something especially sweet about welcoming baby number four. 💕

This image made me think about how different baby number four's beginning is from baby number one's. Not less or more special—just surrounded by so many more (and smaller) hands, personalities, and people already ready to love them.

It made me smile because all I could see was an abundance of love.
And what a beautiful way to begin.

✨ Expecting a little one? These first days pass in such a blur. Preserving them gives you something beautiful to return to long after the newborn stage has passed. ✨

𝗣𝗦𝗔 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗙𝗔𝗦𝗧 📸

Right after preschool age and before the big kid teeth settle in… kids change in these quiet little ways. They still feel little, but they suddenly look older somehow.

My son recently lost his two front teeth and I understood why this is such a fun season to document.

So we made a quick portrait.
His request?
Black shirt. Black backdrop. “𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲..” 🖤

When did he become old enough to have a style?!

Just a little encouragement to notice and celebrate the in-between seasons too.

And if this wiggly teeth season made you realize your kids have changed more than you thought… maybe it’s time to create some pictures. These in-between often end up meaning the most.

What actually happens at G.L.O.W.? This isn’t just a sit-and-listen kind of event.

Girls will:
✨ Hear encouraging messages about confidence + coping skills
✨ Take part in fun activities that bring those ideas to life
✨ Connect in small groups to reflect, share, and practice

It’s a mix of listening, doing, and connecting.

My hope is that each girl leaves feeling more confident, grounded, and encouraged to GLOW from the inside out.
