"Odie" - Update 10/9/15 - PLEASE SHARE!!!
Odie left the shelter on 6/30/15 and was moved to the safety of a kennel in Rome, Georgia, that was 14 weeks ago!! A kennel is simply not a solution for any dog for any length of time, also we as a donation only rescue simply cannot keep up the $77 weekly kennel fee, we have entirely exhausted our veterinary funds for the remainder of the year for several dogs we have been unable to place nor find a foster for. Odie came in with Loki (a Doberman) however we did not see a bond, and Loki and Odie have both done so much better since separated and Loki has since found his "Fureverhome" and now its time to do the same for Odie!! He is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm and Lyme negative and taking his monthly preventatives. If anyone is able to consider opening their heart and home to Odie, either to adopt or foster, PLEASE contact Suzi at [email protected] or (484) 929-5052 ASAP!!! We are still desperately seeking a "Fureverhome" for Odie!! Odie is still in boarding in Georgia and we need find him a FOSTER or ADOPTER NOW! "Odie" - Update 7/25/15
When it became apparent that Odie and Loki were not a bonded pair, they were separated at the kennel into individual kennels and we confirmed they definitely were not. Odie is still in boarding in Georgia and we are desperately seeking a foster, adoption or perhaps a Pit Bull specific rescue who would be able to help us place this handsome young gent. Please SHARE!
"Loki and Odie" Update - 7/13/15 - PLEASE SHARE!
A FOSTER or ADOPTER IS STILL DESPERATELY NEEDED FOR THIS PAIR !!!
We are about to begin their vetting and sadly they are still in boarding in GA. We do want to thank Clippers N' Bows for allowing Loki and Odie to have a safe place to rest their heads and for helping FDR save them from euthanasia. They are doing well at the kennel, although they had to be separated, we are not certain this is indeed a bonded pair, when together in the same kennel we did see some squabbling between them and now they are in individual kennels where they are doing great, also could simply be kennel stress, we really need to get them into a home soon. We have not yet had one single application interested in fostering or adopting them. As rescue, we have to make tough decisions, and we simply cannot keep saying yes to intakes if we don't have fosters, the kennel bills take away from the veterinary funds and every dog deserves to have a healthy life! Both these dogs need everything; wellness exams, neuters, vaccinations, microchips, blood panel, f***l test, and to get started on their monthly preventatives for Heartworm and Flea and Tick, so it does get quite expensive very quickly when we visit the veterinarian. Loki is slowly putting on weight, and we are not be able to neuter him just yet, we also need his Von Willebrand test result as well. "Loki and Odie" - New Arrivals 6/30/15 (FOSTER NEEDED ASAP!)
The wait is over!! The two, young (3 year old), bonded boys, Loki the Doberman and Odie the Pit Bull Terrier are FREE. They came into the FDR program today with assistance from Nikki Bouwens who was able to provide their FREEDOM RIDE from the Etowah Humane Society in Cartersville, GA to a local kennel in Rome, GA on our behalf. We don't know too much about them yet, so we will be updating soon, a FOSTER IS NEEDED ASAP! Loki we feel needs to gain some weight, and Odie has a nasty cough, we will be looking to get them into a veterinarian quickly for a wellness exam and to evaluate their needs. This is a BONDED PAIR and will ONLY be available for adoption together!! Also, we have had many Dobe's come into FDR already in 2015 and we have treated four heartworm cases, kidney disease, vaccinated, spayed, neutered and microchipped, plus much, much more.
