Some shots from Tuesday night at the Gloucester County Fire Academy with Deptford Fire Department's Battalion 3.

The Union Fire Company #1 firefighters trained on fighting a basement fire, entering the burn building on the second floor, and working down the stairs to find the seat of the fire on the first floor below. They finished their training session with a first floor fire, in which firefighters entered on the ground floor, and navigated through the smoke filled burn building to locate the fire.

On Saturday morning, West Deptford Fire Department, V***a_Fire Company 6-2, and Westville Fire Department gathered in West Deptford to mark the 25th anniversary of the Line of Duty Death of V***a firefighter James "Jimmy" Heenan.

The memorial included words from NJ State Senator John Burzichelli, and West Deptford Mayor James Mehaffey. During the service it was announced that V***a has promoted Heenan posthumously to Chief, and it was unveiled that West Deptford Township has dedicated Atkins Ave. in honor of the volunteer firefighter who lost his life to injuries suffered fighting an early morning house fire just a few hundred feet from the street sign that now bears his name.

Deptford Fire Department was on the scene on Highland Ave. as tonight's storm brought down wires which caught fire in multiple places, and lit up the night sky with a light show visible as far away as East Greenwich.
